Apartment housing is closely related to human life. In addition to comfort, the constructors also consider the shape, space, culture, environment, style, etc. Today, let's take a look at some well-known apartments around the world:
01 The Wave
The project is located in Vaeller, Denmark and designed by Henning Larsen, an architectural firm. The Wave Apartment has an open public dock space, which has been built by the architect as a social and residential center, making it continuously charming in the vibrant Waele waterfront. Five landmark peaks stand on the Vaele Fjord. The Wave Apartment Building represents the architectural respect for the local tradition and geographical environment.
02 La Barquière
In order to adapt to the site and the surrounding communities, the designer, inspired by Streamline Miami, combined the horizontal and vertical planes of the building to show a bipolar form. One side has edges and corners, and the other side shows undulating waves, showing an opposite architectural appearance.
The open form of the facade of the building facing the city, the double aluminum tube balcony fence and the tile veneer seem to respond to Phocaea City and its divine light. Sculpted under light and shadow, the winding architectural facade facing the garden seems to be God's comfort to Calanques Hill and warm embrace to the dense flowers of Provence.
A new social housing project in Saintes has totally reinvented what living together means. A seemingly inhabited cloud effortlessly signals the entrance to a recently rehabilitated working-class neighbourhood, known as ‘Les Boiffiers’, dating back to the 1970s. Landscape and architectural design come together in meaningful harmony, showcasing the new development.
BIG proposes to mix the most dominant typologies of the existing urban mass in Aarhus city, blending courtyard buildings, row houses and towers all in one building. Each corner of the building peaks at various heights: a stepped roofscape creates large private terraces for outdoor activities at different levels.
05 Norfolk Burleigh Heads
Drawing inspiration from local Norfolk pines, the latest mixed-use residential project by Koichi Takada Architects is a sculptural and sympathetic addition to its coastal location in Burleigh Heads (Queensland, Australia). The organic, overlapping architectural curves and linear screening form the basis for this responsive building with passive design principles at play.
