动物园用英语怎么说呀（动物园的牌子上写的都是拉丁文）

象馆的“馆”，虎山的“山”，英文怎么说？

动物园的牌子上写的都是拉丁文，想说通俗的英文怎么办？

禁止翻越栏杆、禁止喂食，英文怎么说？

动物园占地面积通常都比较大，带宝宝去，主要是让宝宝亲眼见到这些动物，如果希望将每一个动物细细科普，不仅我们没有那样的知识储备，时间上也不允许。因此，我们认为，如果希望逛动物园时，全程说英文，只需掌握这三类词汇：

一、场馆名称

文章结尾附录中列出了34个北京动物园场馆，我们独家的英文翻译。

二、动物大类

场馆的名称也反映了动物大类的名称，文章同时给予了一些解释。

三、禁止事项

看下面的这对母女怎么说：

VISITING THE ZOO 去动物园

Mom: Look, we are at the zoo!

妈妈：看，咱们到动物园了！

Child: I am so excited, Mommy!

宝宝：我太激动了，妈妈！

We get to see the elephants and giraffes.

我们能看大象和长颈鹿了。

Mom: Okay, let's look at this map

妈妈：好啊，咱们看看这张地图，

and see where they are.

看看它们在哪儿。

We are here at the main entrance,

我们在正门这儿，

and the elephants and giraffes are over there in the Africa area.

大象和长颈鹿在那边的非洲区。

非洲区用Africa area或者African area都是可以的。

So we need to follow this pathway and follow the signs.

所以咱们得沿着这条路，按照路标走。

Child: Mommy, can we take the shuttle or rent a tandem?

宝宝：妈妈，咱们能坐观光车或者租一个多人自行车吗？

Shuttle指穿梭于几个地点间的班车，英文里不体现“观光”的含义。

Mom: Actually, why don't we rent a buggy?

妈妈：对了，咱们租一个四轮自行车吧。

It's perfect for a family.

它最适合一家人。

【At the Giraffe House 在长颈鹿馆】

Child: Mommy, I can see the giraffes!

宝宝：妈妈，我能看见长颈鹿啦！

They are so tall!

它们好高啊！

Can I climb on the fence so I can see better?

我能爬到栏杆上看得清楚点吗？

Mom: No! Look, there is a sign that says,

妈妈：不行！看，那有个牌子写着，

"Please do not climb on the fence".

“不能爬栏杆”。

Child: Why, Mommy?

宝宝：为什么啊，妈妈？

Mom: It is dangerous.

妈妈：这很危险的。

They are still wild animals,

它们依旧是野生动物，

and they could hurt you.

会伤害到你的。

They live in these enclosures that are specially designed

它们生活在这些特别设计的封闭区域里，

to look like their natural habitats.

这里看起来和它们的自然栖息地一样。

For example, giraffes live in the grasslands in Africa

比如，长颈鹿生活在非洲的大草原，

so that is why they are in a grassy field here.

这就是为什么它们生活在这里的草地上。

【At the Eelephant House 在大象馆】

Child: Can we see the elephants now?

宝宝：我们现在能去看大象吗？

Mom: Yes. Let's look at the map again

妈妈：嗯。咱们再看看地图，

and find where the elephant house is.

看看象馆在哪儿。

Child: Look at their long trunks and big ears!

宝宝：看看它们的长鼻子和大耳朵啊！

Can I feed them?

我能喂它们吗？

Mom: No, we can only look at them.

妈妈：不行的，我们只能看看它们。

Pay attention to the signs that say

注意这个牌子写着

"Do Not Feed".

“请勿喂食”。

They need special food.

它们需要专门的食物。

The zookeepers give them their food.

动物园饲养员会给它们食物。

Here comes the elephant.

大象过来了。

Wave to it!

冲它招招手！

【At the Monkey Enclosure 在猴山】

Mom: Shall we go see the monkeys now?

妈妈：咱们现在去看猴子吧？

They live in the monkey enclosure

它们在猴山，

英文里不用hill、mountain表示动物园里的山类场地，enclosure表示以露天为主的动物园场地。

and have trees to climb

那儿有树可以爬，

and ropes to swing on!

还有绳子可以荡秋千！

Child: Mommy, I can't see them.

宝宝：妈妈，我看不见它们啊。

Mom: Look up into that tree,

妈妈：往上看那棵树，

there is one up there!

那儿有一只！

Child: I see him!

宝宝：我看见了！

He is so cute!

它太可爱了！

What is he eating?

它在吃什么呢？

Mom: I'm not sure,

妈妈：我也不知道，

but I know they like to eat bananas.

不过我知道它们喜欢吃香蕉。

【At the Lion and Tiger Enclosure 在狮虎山】

Child: Mommy, does the zoo have lions?

宝宝：妈妈，这个动物园有狮子吗？

I want to see a big lion go roar!

我要看怒吼的大狮子。

Mommy: Yes, they do.

妈妈：嗯，有的。

They are in the lion and tiger enclosure.

它们在狮虎山。

Child: Yes, please!

宝宝：嗯，那去吧！

Look, this lion is napping in the den.

看，这只狮子在洞里打盹呢。

Den：动物巢穴，这里亦可用cave。

Oh wow, look at that female up there on that big rock.

哇哦，看石头上的那只母的。

She just yawned and showed off all of her big teeth!

她刚打了个哈欠，露出巨大的牙齿。

Mommy: She is very big and very dangerous.

妈妈：她很大，而且很危险。

What sound does a lion make?

狮子怎么叫？

Child: A lion goes roar.

宝宝：狮子这么叫，嗷~

Mommy: Yes.

妈妈：是的。

It's time to go home now.

现在该回家了。

Have you had fun looking at the animals today?

你今天看了一天动物开心吗？

Child: I have, Mommy!

宝宝：开心，妈妈！

I want to come back tomorrow and see the hippos!

我想明天再回来看河马！

Deer Yard 鹿苑

Yard和“苑”很对应，指的是动物场馆中露天的部分。

Langur House 叶猴馆

Langur读作 [lʌŋ'guə]，是叶猴属的英文。Leaf monkey也翻译为叶猴，是叶猴属下的一种动物。

Mandrill House 山魈馆

Penguin House 企鹅馆

Otter Exhibit 水獭展区

Exhibit读作 [iɡ'zibit]，对应中文的“展区”，可能是室内，也可能是室外的，或者有室内室外两部分。

Petting Zoo 儿童动物园

翻译成children's zoo也是可以接受的，但是petting zoo这个说法更地道，字面意思是小朋友可以摸摸小动物的园中园。

Giraffe House 长颈鹿馆

Ape House 猩猩馆

猩猩也叫人猿，英文是ape，下面还细分成gorilla-黄猩猩、chimpanzee-黑猩猩等。

Golden Snub-nosed Monkey House 金丝猴馆

Snub-nosed体现了金丝猴翘鼻子的特点。

Tropical Small Monkey House 热带小猴馆

Amphibian and Reptile House 两栖爬行动物馆

Amphibian读作 [æm'fibiən]。

African Animal Area 非洲动物区

地图上本身写的African Animals是非常地道的英文标注，美国动物园也是这样写。但如果说去哪里，可以加上area，并把前面的animal恢复到单数形式。

(Science) Education Center 科普馆

Education center是英语里比较常用的说法，但在前面加上science，与“科普”更对应，也是可以的。

Aviary 鸟苑

Aviary读作 ['eiviəri]。

Crested Ibis House 朱鹮馆

Ibis读作 ['aibis]。

Flamingo House 火烈鸟馆

Mew 鹰山

Mew在英式英语里指马厩，但在美式英语里指鹰山，适用于hawks、eagles等多种鹰类。

Rhino and Hippo House 犀牛河马馆

American Animal Trail 美洲动物区

Trail指崎岖小路，这样的名字更生动，也可以用area一词直译“区”。

Tapir House 貘馆

Tapir读作 ['teipə]。

Waterfowl Lake 水禽湖

Waterfowl读作 [wɔtəfaul]。

Elephant House 象馆

Australian Animal Walkabout 澳洲动物区

Walkabout是指代澳洲丛林的专有名词，这样的名字更生动，也可以用area一词直译“区”。

Beijing Aquarium 北京海洋馆

Aquarium读作 [ə'kwɛriəm]。

Lion and Tiger Enclosure 狮虎山

Nocturnal Animal House 夜行动物馆

Giant Panda House 大熊猫馆

亦可省略giant。

Animal Nursery 育幼室

Pheasant Yard 雉鸡苑

Felid House 猫科动物馆

Felid读作 ['fi:lid]。

Bear Enclosure 熊山

Canine Area 犬科动物区

Canine读作 ['keinain]。

Monkey Enclosure 猴山
