“牙缝宽，是一种什么感觉？”有一位姑娘某一天这样问我。以前可从来没有人这么问过我，我下意识用手掩住嘴巴。可是她看着我，等着我回答，那真诚的模样使我意识到她不是诚心冒犯。“我没有想过，”我实话实说。她点头离开了。她走后我想，人家看我的时候是不是只看我的宽牙缝？

晚些时候回到家，我又开始琢磨我的牙板来。心情很沮丧。牙缝要是不宽的话，兴许生活会好过一些。我多想拥有像别人那样完美的牙齿啊！

母亲当然是没有注意到这些情况的。她一辈子都是宽牙缝，还要我相信那没有什么大不了的。我违背她的意愿的时候，她就说“要是真的要紧的话，让外科医生修补牙缝好了”，“可是说真的”她说“要是大家都让医生把自己变漂亮了，人人肯定都是由同一个模子刻出来的了，而美就在于不同。”

她的话使我认真审视自己的牙齿。失去牙缝的想法比人们会注意到它的现实要可怕地多。我意识到，宽牙缝对我而言是多么重要，它是我身份的一部分。

如今很多人为了实现自己“完美”的梦想而做出种种可笑的举动，然而真相是没有人是完美的。去除了丑的因素，美的因素也系数尽毁。要是那个姑娘再问起我有关我牙缝的问题，我会真诚的回答“你不觉得它很可爱吗！”

在一个遥远的地方，很久以前，那里很穷，只有富人才能比较容易生存下来。其中有三个富人在他们仆人的护卫下在同一条路上行进，然后他们来到一个贫穷的山村。

第一个富人无法直视这一切，于是，他拿出了随身车上所有的黄金和珠宝分发给了村民们。他期望村民们可以改善生活，然后离开了。

第二个富人，眼见如此令人绝望的情景，停留了片刻，然后把自己所有的食物和水都分给了村民，因为他认为钱对他们来说几乎无用。他确定每个村民都得到了平均的分配，而且这些食物足够他们支撑很长一段时间，于是他离开了。

第三个富人眼见着如此的贫穷，径直穿过村庄毫无停留。另外两个富人在远处看着他，谈论着第三个富人多么没有同情心。而他们两个很好地帮助了贫困的村民。

然而，三天之后，他们看到第三个富人从相反的方向又来了。他依然行进得很快，但是他的马车上面，不再是之前他们之前所带的黄金和值钱的东西，而是装满了各种农具，和一袋袋的种子。他来到贫穷的村庄帮助村民们摆脱贫困。
