Smart people could decide the fortune of stupid people, but it’s hard to say Liu Shan was stupid or pretended to be stupid, after all, he had happy ending.

Shu was the smallest kingdom, Zhuge Liang and Jiang Wei exhausted the fortune of Shu to attack Wei. Neither of them succeeded, finally Shu was extinguished by Wei easily. Deng Ai was a great general but wasn’t a good politician. Finally, both him and his son were killed by Wei Guan.

Wei Guan was smart to live easily in hard situations. If he didn’t kill Deng Ai and his son, surely, he would be killed by them. You couldn’t blame him since he was trying to save himself. Knowing the relationship of profit and harm could make us smart enough to live peacefully.

As long as there was no fox, dog was of no use; as long as there was no bird, bow was of no use. It was an easy fact. When a minister achieved something, if the country didn’t need him anymore, he should retire quietly to save himself. If he still struggled hard to earn power and fame, even abused his boss for being ungrateful, surely, he would die miserably. Power and fame were so charming, nobody was willing to leave willingly without them. Don’t boast yourself. The earth can rotate without human population, not even to say every single one of you.
