1.Look down on/upon ~～

To look down on or upon someone means to consider that person to be inferior or unimportant , usually when this is not true.

“看不起”就是“嫌弃”，“嫌弃”就是“看不起”。这个短语侧重于表达“对方在某方面不如我”的意思。

eg.

I wasn't successful ,so they looked down on me.

2. dispise someone

If you duspise something or someone,you dislike them and have very low opinion on them.

dispise 一词在电影中常见到，算是标准的单词，有点像“我鄙视你”，同义词有disdain

eg.

I can never ,ever firgive him. I dispise him.

3.give a disgusted look

You can give someone a disgusted look or just think disgusted thoughts –– if they tell an offensive joke.

有人说了令你不快的笑话，你会觉得厌恶或者厌恶地看他一眼。

4.hold something / someone in contempt 有“蔑视，轻视，看不起”之意。

If you hold someone or something in contempt, you feel contempt for them.

eg.

Small wonder that many voters hold their politicians in contempt.

难怪很多人对他们的政客嗤之以鼻。

5. frown upon someone or something

对……皱眉头，这一表达更侧重于“不同意，不赞成”而非“嫌弃”。

If something is frowned upon, people disprove of it .

eg.

This practice is frowned upon as being wasteful.

人们并不赞成这种做法，因为那是没用的。
