人教版四年级上册Unit Two中有这么二句对话：

A: "John, I have a new schoolbag." (我有了一个新书包。)

B: “May I see it?” (我可以看一下吗？)

很明显，B(即John)想要表示的意思是，可不可以看一看A的书包是怎么样的。这里的动作词是“看一下/看一下”。只"看一眼/看一下某东西"英文应该表述为"have a look at sth."。所以确切的表述应该是“May I have a look at it?”。相信大家对这个应该不会有异义。

那么，look与see及watch在用法与意思上有什么区别？

To watch:

To pay attention to something in particular (also usually something visual).

将注意力放在特别的某事某物上（通常为具体可见的某事某物），相当于汉语中的“观察”或“仔细看”。

比如：

I watched the football game.

我看了那场足球比赛。

Watch out! (means be careful/look out/etc).

To see:

To witness or perceive something (usually with your eyes) that is happening at that moment.

去目击见证或察觉当下正在发生的某件事情（通常用你的眼睛），相当于汉语中的“看见”，重在表结果。

It means to notice or become aware of sth. or sb. by using the eyes or to observe it.

它表示通过用眼睛观察去注意到或发现某人某物。

比如：

I see a person coming down the street.

我看到/看见一个人正沿街走过来。

I see a cat in the tree.

我看到/看见那棵树里的一只猫了。

I saw my friend last night.

昨天晚上，我看到了我的朋友。

Seeing is believing.

‘See’ can also, like ‘look’, be used as a command.

see与look一样，也被用途一种命令。比如：
