Spring 春天

Child: The birds seem loud and talkative today.

宝宝：今天鸟儿的叫声好大、一直叫个不停。

Mom: That means spring is coming.

妈妈：这说明春天来了。

Child: How do you know?

宝宝：你怎么知道的？

Mom: Birdsong is one of the first signs that the season is changing from winter to spring.

妈妈：鸟叫声是季节从冬天变为春天的最早的迹象之一。

As the weather gets warmer,

随着天气变暖，

migrating birds start to return.

候鸟开始往回飞了。

Let's go for a walk

咱们去散散步，

and see if we can find other signs of spring.

看看我们还能发现什么春天的标志。

Child: That tree looks different.

宝宝：那棵树看起来很不一样。

It's already a little green

它已经有一点绿了，

and it looks kind of fuzzy.

而且看起来有点毛茸茸的。

Mom: Yeah, that's a budding weeping willow.

妈妈：嗯，那是一棵正在长芽的垂柳。

Willows bud early.

柳树抽芽比较早。

What else can you see?

你还能看见什么？

Child: The grass has started to sprout.

宝宝：小草开始发芽了。

Mom: Yes, soon it will be a fresh carpet of green!

妈妈：是的，很快它就会变成一张清新的绿色地毯！

We can also smell all the flowers

我们还能闻各种花的香味，

and see the first buds bloom.

看第一批花蕾绽放。

Child: Mom, I see water flowing.

宝宝：妈妈，我看见河水流动了。

Mom: Yeah.

妈妈：是的。

It's warming up,

暖和起来了，

so the ice and snow are starting to melt.

所以冰雪都开始融化。

In a few weeks, the frogs will come out of hibernation,

再过几周，青蛙会从冬眠中醒来，

and we'll hear them singing.

我们会听到它们歌唱。

We'll also start to see butterflies and bumblebees.

我们逐渐还会看见蝴蝶和大黄蜂。

Child: We need to make sure they have flowers to collect nectar from.

宝宝：我们得确保它们有花来采花蜜。

Mom: We do.

妈妈：是的。

Child: Why do we have rain in spring?

宝宝：春天为什么会下雨？

Mom: In the spring, the warm and wet air from the south hits the cold air in the north

妈妈：春天里，南方湿热的空气碰上北方的冷空气，

and can produce rain.

就会产生降雨。

We have a couple of sayings about spring weather:

我们有很多关于春天天气的谚语：

"If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb."

“三月天若来如雄狮，必去似羔羊。”

"April showers bring May flowers."

“四月雨带来五月花。”

Child: What do they mean?

宝宝：它们是什么意思啊？

Mom: The first one means if March starts with bad weather,

妈妈：第一个是说如果三月一开始是坏天气，

it will end with good weather.

结束的时候就会是好天气。

Sometimes that's true.

有时候是这样的。

Child: What about the other saying?

宝宝：另外一个谚语呢？

Mom: April is often a rainy month,

妈妈：四月通常是个多雨的月份，

and all that rain helps the flowers grow and bloom.

而雨能帮助花儿生长和开放。

Child: I like the smell of spring rain,

宝宝：我喜欢春雨的味道，

even if it makes me wet.

即使它会把我弄湿。

Mom: Me too.

妈妈：我也是。

Child: Spring is a nice change after winter.

宝宝：从冬天到春天是一个好的变化。

Mom: It is.

妈妈：是的。

It's full of new sights, smells, sounds and life!
