Compulsory Education① in China

In China, school begins on September 1. Children go to school when they are six years old. Children will study for six years in primary school②, where they will learn Chinese, maths, English, music, drawing, P. E. and so on. When they finished primary school, they will enter junior school, where they will learn other subjects besides what they learn in primary school, such as physics, chemistry, politics, history, geography, biology and so on. They shall study for 3 years in junior school. During the compulsory education, parents only have to pay the fees③ of books and exercise books for their children education.
