Ⅰ. 第三段 词汇句型语法解析及翻译 第④句④When he learnt that he would be sent abroad, he returned to the farm and his farther hid him until the end of the war. 当他了解自己将被派遣出国时，他逃回农场，父亲把他藏了起来，直到战争结束。

A. 语言点分析：本句是一个并列复合句，when引导时间状语从句，这个从句中that引导宾语从句，主句是是并列句①he returned to the farm and② his farther hid him until the end of the war。第三段有三个句子出现了when引导的时间状语从句，

A. abroad [ə'brɔ:d] ad.在国外，

⑴abroad在国外；到国外in or to a foreign country or countries

①He's currently abroad on business.目前他在国外出差。

②We always go abroad in the summer.我们夏天总是到国外去。

③During the COVID-19 he was sent on dangerous secret missions abroad. Very exciting! 新冠肺炎疫情期间，他被派往国外担任一项危险而秘密的使命。太令人兴奋了。

⑵在户外的；室外的abroad outside; not at home

①Not a soul was abroad that morning.那天上午，户外空无一人。

⑶abroad MANY PEOPLE 很多人

广为流传的[after verb] formal describes ideas, feelings and opinions that are shared by many people

B. his farther hid him until the end of the war.

hide v. Irregular verb, hid, hidden躲藏，臧

There was nowhere to hide.没有可躲藏之处。

1. hide 把…藏起来；躲藏 [I or T] to put something or someone in a place where they cannot be seen or found, or to put yourself somewhere where you cannot beseen or found

She used to hide her diary under her pillow.她过去常把自己的日记藏在枕头下。

A kilo of heroin was found hidden inside the lining of the suitcase. 在那个手提箱的内衬里发现藏有1公斤海洛因。

I like wearing sunglasses - I feel I can hide behind them. 我喜欢戴太阳镜——我觉得我可以藏在镜片的后面。

2. hide [T] to prevent something from being seen 遮掩，遮盖

He tries to hide his bald patch by sweeping his hair over to one side. 他试图通过把头发梳向一边来掩盖他头顶上的秃块。

3 hide [T] to not show an emotion掩饰（情感）

She tried to hide her disappointment at not getting the promotion. 她试图掩饰自己对没有得到提升的失望。

4 hide [T] If you hide information from someone, you do not allow that person to know it隐瞒（消息）

I feel sure there's something about her past that she's trying to hide from me. 我确信她想对我隐瞒过去的某些事情。

My husband never hides anything from me.我丈夫从不对我隐瞒什么。

5. hide n. （用于制作皮革的）兽皮，复数hides 皮hide用作名词时,意思是“(厚的、粗的)兽皮”,是可数名词。 [C or U] the strong thick skin of an animal which is used for making leather

This is a hide of a lamb.这是羊羔的毛皮。

6. hide n. （可以观察野兽或鸟类的）隐藏处，躲藏处a place where people can watch wild animals or birds without being noticed by them

hide用作及物动词时,宾语后接from,表示“把某人藏起来或隐瞒某事不让某人知道”; 用作不及物动词时,后接from表示“躲避某人”。

7. Hide习惯用语idiom

⑴ hide out (from)躲起来

hide out :躲避，潜伏：藏在隐蔽之处以躲避追踪者 To be in hiding, as from a pursuer例句：

The gangsters hid out in a remote cabin until it was safe to return to the city.

暴徒们在一个偏僻的小屋中藏了起来，直到能够安全回城。

We could hide out at my cottage.我们可以在我的农舍躲上一晚。

If we can make it to the woods we can hide out till things settle down.如果我们可以逃到森林里，我们就可以藏起来了。

Can I hide out here for a while?躲藏在外我能在这里藏一会儿吗？

You can't hide out in here forever,.你不能永远躲在这儿。

So, it seems you need a place to hide out a bit.那，好象看起来你需要一个藏身的地方。

We used to hide out from our parents here.过去我们经常躲在这儿，父母找不到。

As an escapee, you're usually expected to hide out in order to avoid being discovered.作为出逃者，你一般会被预料将躲藏起来，为了避免不被发现行踪。

Reliable sources also report that they have been known to hide out in abroad.据可靠消息报告，目前所知他们不可能藏在国外。

⑵hide nor hair 没有踪影

①I haven`t seen hide nor hair of them since the argument.自从那次争论后，我连他们的影子也没看到。

②I've not seen hide nor hair of him all week.我整星期连他的影子都没看见。

③In fact, I had not seen hide nor hair of him in months.事实上，几个月来他都杳无音讯。

④I can see neither hide nor hair of the kids.我看不到孩子们的人影。

⑤I haven't seen hide nor hair of hersince last Saturday.自从上星期六以来，我压根就没见过她。

⑥The police found neither hide nor hair of the killer.警察没有找到那杀人犯的任何一点踪迹。

⑶ hide away 躲开，躲藏

①Where can you hide away?你能躲到哪去？

②Now I need a place too hide away.现在我需要找个地方隐藏自己。

③Don't hide away behind the door. it's not safe.不要躲在门后，那是不安全的。

④Are you my last harbor, where I can hide away from storms?你是不是我最后避风的港湾？

⑤We must hide away.我们得躲藏起来。

⑥A key figure in this cause celebre, he chose to hide away and keep his mouth shut.作为这一闹得满城风雨的事件中的关键人物，他选择了躲开并保持沉默。

Ⅱ. 第三段 词汇句型语法解析及翻译 第⑤句: ⑤Fearing the authorities, Eric remained in hiding after the war as well.由于害怕当局，埃里克战后继续深藏不露。

A. 句法结构点拨分析

本句是一个简单句，Fearing the authorities, 现在分词短语作状语，表示于原因，主句是Eric remained in hiding after the war as well。

B. 核心词汇拓展解析

remained in hiding依然保持深藏不露。此处的remain v. 停留，留下；保持不变，仍然是[I or T] slightly formal to stay in the same place or in the same condition:

①The doctor ordered him to remain in bed for a few days.医生嘱咐他要继续卧床几天。

Remain 常用句型:

remain to infinitive/ adj. noun phrase

③It remains a secret.这仍然是个秘密。

④The bank will remain open while renovations are carried out. 这家银行在修缮期间将依旧开门营业。

⑤I know you're sorry now, but the fact remains that you hit your sister.我知道你现在很内疚，可是你打了你妹妹这一事实仍然无法改变。

⑥It remains to be seen，it is not yet certain. 尚不确定；说不准。

⑦It remains to be seen who will win. 谁会赢现在尚不能确定。

Focus 高频考点:

根据动词不定式与主语的逻辑关系确定用不定式的主动形式或被动形式。

2 [Intransitive] to continue to exist when other parts or other things no longer exist剩余；余留；遗留

After the fire, nothing remained of the village. 火灾过后，村庄荡然无存。

Only a few hundred of these animals remain today.现在这种动物只存留下来数百只。

Ⅲ. 第三段 词汇句型语法解析及翻译 第⑥句: ⑥ His father told everybody that Eric had been killed in action. (由于害怕当局，埃里克战后继续深藏不露。)他的父亲告诉大家，埃里克在战争中被打死了。

语法分析: 本句是一个主从复合句，主句是His father told everybody，that Eric had been killed in action.是宾语从句。特别注意宾语从句中的动词时态是过去完成时，表示在过去的过去发生的动作。有关过去完成时态的专项语法另文再讲。

1. action ['ækʃәn] n.战斗，作战，表示战斗时是不可数名词。这一点与中文理解不同，不要用中文定式思维的方式，误用作可数名词。[U] fighting in a war战斗；作战

①Her younger son was killed in action.她的小儿子在战斗中阵亡。

②He was reported missing in action.据报道,他在战斗中失踪。(再次提醒in action在战斗中，要用零冠词)

③His father told everybody that Eric had been killed in action. 他的父亲告诉大家，埃里克在战争中被打死了。（新概念英语第三册，第30课课文第三段第六句）

2. action表示“行动，行动过程，行为”，也是不可数名词 [U] （常需指要解决、指应的对问题或要克服、面对困难的）the process of doing something, especially when dealing with a problem or difficulty

①This problem calls for swift/prompt action from the government. 这一问题需要政府马上采取行动。

action 常跟不定式作定语[action to infinitive] 如例②

②Action to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 is high on the government's agenda. 采取行动防止新冠肺炎疫情蔓延是政府的当务之急。

③We must take action (= do something) to deal with the problem before it spreads to other areas. 在这一问题蔓延到其他地区之前我们一定要采取行动将其解决。

④So what's the plan of action (= What are we going to do)? 那麼行動計劃是甚麼？
