Miss means
- is late for some scheduled things
- feels lonely(孤独的) because who he/she cares isn’t around us or near to us
- forget about somethings
Miss是错过、思念、忘掉(错过)的意思。
Examples:
I missed my company shuttle(摆渡车) bus. (I was late, and when I got to the bus stop the bus had gone away)
我错过了公司的摆渡车。(可以理解为来晚了,其实也许真实原因是忘掉了时间导致)
I am so sorry that I missed your birthday. (Can be understood as I forgot your birthday. Not only late but also, forgot about it)
我非常非常抱歉错过(也许是因为忘掉导致了错过,也许是别的事导致了错过)了你的生日。
I miss you. (I am not able to go with you, and I feel very sad and lonely)
我想你。(你不在我身边,我感到好伤心好孤独)
That is so great to see you again, I really missed you. (I was very lonely when you were not around me)

Lose means
- can’t find something temporarily(临时) or permanently(永远)
- failed to do something
- failed the current situation, and have to re-do
Lose是丢了、输掉、失去某事某物的意思。
Examples:
I lost my pen. (I put the pen somewhere, but I can’t find it right now)
我找不到我的钢笔了。
We lost the football match. (We hope to win, but we failed the game)
我们输掉了那场足球比赛。(我们想赢)
I lost my place in the waiting queue. (I was standing in the queue, and I left the queue for some reason)
我失去了我在排队队伍里的占的位置。(我不得不撤出了队伍)
