幼儿英文近义词（意思却大不同的）
学英文的过程中，背单词一定是很多人的痛！
因为好多单词或词组都长得好像，万一搞混或用错，意思可是天差地远！
aboard (adv.) 在交通工具上
Welcome aboard.
欢迎上 (车 / 船 / 机)。
abroad (adv.) 在国外
My sister is going to study abroad next year.
我妹妹明年要出国留学。
sympathy (n.) 同情心
She shows no sympathy to the poor.
她对于穷人毫无同情心。
empathy (n.) 同理心
这个词跟 sympathy 的差别， empathy 是可以感同身受 (自己感受到对方的痛苦)，sympathy 只是觉得对方可怜，但却不一定能明白对方的感觉。
He felt great empathy for the victim’s family.
他理解受害者家属的痛苦。
apathy (n.) 漠不关心
The result of the survey has uncovered people’s political apathy.
调查显示人们对政治冷感。
raise (v.) 举起、养育
Please raise your hand if you know the answer.
知道答案的人请举手。
Judy was raised by her grandparents.
Judy 是由她的祖父母抚养长大。
rise (v.) 上升
The sun rises in the east.
太阳从东边升起。
除了指实体的上升，rise 也可以指抽象概念的上升，如涨价、心情变雀跃、社会地位提升等。
The oil price rose last week.
上周的油价上涨了。
arise (v.) 发生
A conflict arose because of a misunderstanding.
冲突会因误解而发生。
difference 的意思是「不同」，可是 indifference 不是「相同」的意思哦！indifference 是一个意思完全不同的单字：冷漠

Most people cannot distinguish the difference between twins.
大部分的人无法分辨双胞胎之间的差别。
indifference (n.) 冷漠
She treated her ex-boyfriend with indifference.
她对她的前男友很冷漠。
1. Some time作为名词短语，是指一定的时限，表示相当长的一段时间(along time)；作副词短语时，意为“随便何时”。
It will take some time to tell you the wholestory.
把全部经过讲给你听需要相当长的时间。
I haven't seen Mr. Liang for some time. I miss him verymuch.
我已经好久没有看见梁先生，我十分想念他。
2. Sometime作为副词，意思是“在某一时候”、“日后”、“昔时”，指不定的时间，既可指将来亦可指过去的不确定时间(any time in the future or in the past)。
I will tell you sometime or other.
我将来会告诉你的。
He gave us a detailed report sometime ago.
他曾给我们一个详细的报告。
Sometime亦可用作形容词，放在名词之前作定语。
He was a sometime university professor.
他曾经是大学的教授。
注：这里的sometime相当于one time或former。
3. Sometimes的意思是“有时”、“不时”(at times，now and then)。
The weather is cold and changeable. Now itrains，now it snows，sometimes it hails.
气候冷而多变，时而下雨，时而下雪，有时还下冰雹。
We have letters from her sometimes.
有时候，我们会收到她的信。
I am sometimes at leisure.
我间或有暇。
1.cloth表示“布”“衣料”，是不可数名词。如：
She bought some cloth to make herself a dress.
她买了些布要给自己做一件连衣裙。
再如：a piece of cloth(一块布)，three yards of cloth(3码布)，aroll of cloth(一卷布)等等。
表示用作某种特殊用途的布(如桌布，台布等)，是可数名词。如：
Clean the windows with a soft cloth.
用块软布擦窗子。
The box was covered with a black cloth by themagician.
盒子被魔术师盖上黑布。
2.clothes是衣服的统称，不仅包括coat, shirt, dress等的“衣服”，而且还包括 trousers, socks等穿在身上的所有东西。
表示“衣服”，是一个没有单数形式的复数名词，其前不可加不定冠词，也不可加数词，但可用 some, these, those, many, (a) few等词修饰。如：
I need to buy some clothes.
我需要买些衣服。
These clothes wash well.
这些衣服经洗。
You look rather shabby in those clothes.
你穿着那种衣服显得很寒酸。
I don’t have many clothes for summer.
我夏天穿的衣服不多。
虽然不受数词的修饰，但使用代词时可用ones. 如：
When he got a job in a bank, he had to wear formal clothesinstead of informal ones.
他在银行谋了份工作后不得不把非正式衣服换成正式衣服。
可受某些名词修饰，表示不同用途的衣服，如school clothes(校服), sports clothes(运动服), work clothes(工作服)等。
它还可以受季节名词修饰，表示不同季节穿的服装，如spring clothes(春装)、summer clothes(夏装)、autumn clothes(秋装)、winter clothes(冬装)。
3.clothing是“衣服”的总称，是一个不可数的集合名词。如：
We need warm clothing for the winter.
我们需要暖和的衣服过冬。
用作主语时，其后谓语动词要用单数形式。如：
Loose clothing gives you greater freedom ofmovement.
穿宽松的衣服就能活动自如。
表示一件衣服，可借助article, item或piece等词。如：
A coat is an article of clothing.
上衣是一件衣服。
The police examined several items of clothing.
警方检查了几件衣服。
汉语说“衣食”，但英语通常说成food and clothing。如：
We are well provided with food and clothing.
我们吃得好，穿得好。
习语a wolf in sheep’s clothing的意思是“披着羊皮的狼”，其中clothing习惯上不能换成clothes。如：
He is not to be trusted. He is a wolf in sheep’sclothing.
他是不能相信的，他是一个伪君子。
