春节送礼十大禁忌(这些送礼禁忌您知道吗)(1)

1. No watches or clocks for seniors

忌给长者送手表或者钟表

Clock pronounced as "Zhong" in mandarin, means "the end", is considered the same thing as a watch. Therefore, giving someone a clock or a watch implies "your time is up", a serious slight, especially for the elders.

在中文中,钟的读音即是“Zhong(终)”,中文意思是终止,完结的意思,同样的,钟表也有这样的意思。给朋友送表或者送钟表似乎就是在暗示对方的时间不长了,尤其是对年纪比较大的人而言。

If you really want to buy someone a good-looking watch, you can let him or her select it, and then you pay for it.

但如果你真的想为朋友选择一款手表的话,你可以带着他们自己去选购,然后为他们付款即可。

2. No umbrellas or pears for lovers

忌给情侣送伞或梨

Umbrella pronounced as "San" and pear pronounced as "Li" in Chinese, both mean "separation". So it's inappropriate to give lovers umbrellas and pears, because it will seem like you want them to be separated. Also, don't give your friends umbrellas as a gift; it is not a good symbol of friendship. Of course, the timely act of giving someone an umbrella on a rainy day can be an exception.

雨伞在中文中发音为"San(散)",梨发音为"Li(离)",两者在中文中都有分离的意思,因此在给情侣送礼时,雨伞或者梨都是不适合的礼物,这会让人觉得你是想拆散人家,同时也不要给朋友送伞,这对友情来说并不是好的征兆。然而,如果在下雨时突然有人给你送伞,这则会是意外之喜。

3. No green hats for men

忌给男人送绿色帽子

Hats are not a good choice for gifts, in old China there were too many bad things linked to hats. For example, when elders pass away, their descendents had to wear a "filial piety hat". Particularly, green hats for males are especially bad. In Chinese saying a man wears a "green hat" means his wife is having an affair, which is a serious insult to the man.

帽子往往不是送礼的好选择,在旧中国有很多与帽子相关不好的事情,

比如在老人去世的时候,需要带上孝帽。而绿帽被忌讳的原因更在于,在中国,男人戴绿帽则意味着妻子有外遇,这对男人是一种极大的侮辱。

4. No medicine for the healthy

忌给健康的人送药

Giving someone medicine as a gift implies that the receiver will get sick or you want them to get sick. Even health care products are inappropriate for others if they are not very familiar friends or relatives of yours.

给别人送药意味着他们有可能会生病或者是你希望他们生病,即使是健康的保健品也会被误会,如果不是送给十分亲近的朋友或者亲人的话,一般情况下是极为不适合的。

5. No shoes for non-family members

忌给家人以外的人送鞋

Shoe, pronounced "Xie", is a homonym for "evil" in mandarin, is considered an unlucky item to give as a gift. If the shoes you give are smaller than the wearer's feet size, it means "give someone tight shoes to wear", which bears the meaning of "make things hard for somebody".

鞋在中文的发音为"Xie",与邪发音相同,因此鞋子作为礼物会被视为是不吉利的象征,如果你送给对方的鞋子尺码太小的话,这还意味着是有意给别人穿小鞋,这表示你是有意刁难对方或者让对方难做。

6. Gift packages should avoid the colors white and black

包装纸忌黑白两色

In Chinese culture, black and white are colors associated with funerals or unfortunate things and considered unlucky colors. Therefore, its better to make gift packaging red or other warm colors, symbolizing happiness and harmony.

在中国文化中,黑色与白色多数时候被用在葬礼或者发生不幸的事情时,这两个颜色都是不吉利的颜色,因此包装礼物的时候最好是用红色包装纸或者暖色包装纸。

7. Cash is the best gift of all, especially during Spring Festival

现金是最好的礼物,尤其是在春节时

If you are not sure what to give to your friends or relatives during the upcoming Spring Festival, a "red envelop" can be a universal gift. Red envelops are red paper packets packed with money. You can give your friends or relatives' children red envelops as a way to express your greetings. As in Chinese custom, during the Chinese New Year, seniors will give children red envelops with lucky money inside to express their love.

如果你不知道该给亲朋好友送什么春节礼物,送红包会是保险的礼物,红包即是一个用红纸制成的口袋,口袋中装有现金,给朋友或者亲人的孩子送红包是一种表达祝福的方式。在中国习俗中,春节时长辈给小孩包红包也是他们表达爱意的方式。
