abide, adhere, conform, comply这四个高频考词都有“遵守”的意思，但是它们的搭配不同。

一、abide v.后接by表示“遵守，同意”。

I will abide by the director' decision.

我将遵从主任的决定。

sb can’t abide sb/sth

某人不能容忍某人/某事物

I can’t abide that man – he’s so self-satisfied.

我受不了那个人，他太自满了。

二、adhere v.后接to表示“遵守”。(当然adhere一词的其它意思如“坚持；粘附”也经常被考到。)

Car drivers must adhere to the rules of driving.

汽车司机必须遵守驾驶规则。

We adhere to the principles of equal rights and freedom of expression for all.

我们坚持人人平等和言论自由的原则。

I have adhered strictly to the rules .

我严格遵守了规章制度。

三、conform v.后接to表示“遵守，符合”。

All individuals are required to conform to the laws made by their governments.

每个人都应该遵守政府制订的法律。

Students can be expelled for refusing to conform to school rules.

学生不遵守校规可能会被开除。

All new buildings must conform with the regional development plan.

所有新建房屋都必须遵从地方上的开发规划。

四、comply v.后接with表示“遵守，服从”，用于正式的场合。

Our company complies with governmental regulations on paying taxes.

我们公司遵守政府有关纳税的规定。

The newspaper was asked by federal agents for assistance and agreed to comply.

联邦探员要求这家报社给予协助，报社同意配合。

Failure to comply with the regulations will result in prosecution.

违反规定者将被起诉。
