"Need to" is a phrase that means "have to." It expresses an action that is necessary. For example, you need to show the airline staff your boarding pass before you can board the plane. However, we can also use it in a question. For example, "Do I need to take off my coat too?"

短语need to和have to含义相似，表示“必须，需要”，表达了一个必要的行为。比如，在上飞机之前，你需要（need to）向机场工作人员出示你的登机牌。我们也可以在问句中使用这个短语。比如，“我还需要脱外套吗？”

Note that "need to" is always followed by a verb. "I need to leave in 15 minutes. I need to catch my bus."
