丢失与寻找的绘本（一起读绘本Lostand）

Lost and Found

有人译成《失而复得》，有人译成《远在天边》，由明天出版社引进后，译名是《迷路的小企鹅》。读完整个故事，看看你更喜欢哪个译名？

Once there was a boy, who found a penguin at his door.

从前，有个小男孩，在家门口发现了一只小企鹅。

The boy didn't where it had come from, but it began to follow him everywhere.

小男孩不知道小企鹅是从哪儿来的，但是无论小男孩走到哪里，它都一路跟着。

The penguin looked sad and the boy thought it must be lost.

小企鹅看起来不开心，所以小男孩觉得它是走丢了。

So the boy decided to help the penguin find its way home.

于是，小男孩想帮助小企鹅找到回家的路。

He checked in the Lost and Found Office. But no one was missing a penguin.

他去了失物招领办公室，但是并没有人丢失了一只企鹅。

He asked some birds if they knew where the penguin came from.

他问了几只鸟儿，知不知道企鹅是从哪里来的。

But they ignored him.

但是鸟儿们不理不睬的。

Some birds are like that.

有的鸟儿就是这样。

The boy asked his duck.

小男孩又问了他的小鸭子。

But the duck floated away. He didn't know either.

但是小鸭子游走啦。他也不知道呢。

The night, the boy couldn't sleep for disappointment.

到了夜里，小男孩失望得睡不着觉。

He wanted to help the penguin but he wasn't sure how.

他很想帮助企鹅，但是却不知道怎么办。

disappointment [ˌdɪsəˈpɔɪntmənt] n. 失望;沮丧;使人失望的人(或事物)

The next morning he discovered that penguin come from the South Pole.

第二天，他发现了企鹅是从南极来的。

But how could he get there!

但是他怎么才能去南极呢！

discover [dɪˈskʌvər] v. 发现

He ran down to the harbor and asked a big ship to take them to the South Pole.

他跑到了海港，对着一艘大船问，可以带他们去南极吗。

But his voice was much too small to be heard over the ship's horn.

但是他的声音太小啦，淹没在了船号声里。

harbor [ˈhɑrbər] n. 港口;海港

too … to 太……而不能

I can't hear you over this music.

这音乐太大声，我听不见你说什么。

I couldn't hear what he side over the noise of the traffic.

交通噪声太大，我听不清他说的话。

Together, the boy decided, he and the penguin would row to the South Pole.

于是，小男孩决定和小企鹅一起划船去南极。

So the boy took his rowboat out and tested it for size and strength.

于是男孩儿拿出了他的船，试了试大小和长度。

He told stories to the penguin to help pass the time.

他还给小企鹅讲了好多故事，来消磨时间。

Then they packed everything they would need……

于是他们准备好了要用到的所有行李……

decide [dɪˈsaɪd] v. 决定;对…作出抉择

pass the time 打发时间;消磨时间

pack [pæk] v. (把…）打包，（把…）装箱

……and pushed the rowboat out to sea.

……并且把船推到了海边。

They rowed south for many days……

他们向南划了好多个白天……

and many nights.

……和好多个黑夜。

There was lots of time for stories,and the penguin listened to every one, so the boy would always tell another.

有好多好多时间可以听故事呢，小企鹅听完一个故事，小男孩儿就讲下一个故事。

They floated through good weather and bad.

他们漂呀漂，漂过了好天气和坏天气，

when the waves were as big as mountains.

有的波浪有一座山那么大。

Until, finally, they came to the South Pole.

直到，终于，他们来到了南极。

The boy was delighted, but the penguin said nothing.

小男孩可开心啦，但是小企鹅却什么也没说。

Suddenly it looked sad again as the boy helped it out of the boat.

他帮助小企鹅上了岸，可忽然，小企鹅看起来又不开心了。

delight [dɪˈlaɪt] n. 高兴;愉快

Then the boy said good-bye……

然后小男孩说，再见……

……and floated away.

……划船离开了。

when he looked back, the penguin was still there.

当他回头看的时候，小企鹅仍然在哪里。

But it looked sadder than ever.

但是它看起来比平时更伤心了。

It felt strange for the boy to be on his own.

小男孩觉得好奇怪。

There was no point telling stories now, because there was no one to listen except the wind and the waves.

现在已经不用讲故事啦，因为没有人听，除了耳边的海风和波浪。

Instead, he just thought.

于是，小男孩开始想啊想。

on one's own 靠自己的力量，独自地

no point 没有理由， 没有必要

And the more he thought……

而且他越想……

……the more he realized he had made a big mistake.

……就越明白，他错啦！

The penguin hadn't been lost. It had just been lonely.

小企鹅并没有走丢。它只是太孤单啦。

Quickly he turned the boat around and rowed back to the South Pole as fast as he could.

于是，小男孩迅速地把船掉头，以最快的速度朝南极划去。

turn around 扭转;（使）调转方向

as fast as he can 尽他的可能跑最快

At last he reached the Pole again……But where was the penguin?

终于，他又到了南极。但是小企鹅不见了！

The boy searched and searched, but he was nowhere to be found.

小男孩找了又找，但是找不到它的影子。

search [sɜːrtʃ] n. 搜索;搜寻

Sadly, the boy set off for home.

小男孩难过地起身准备回家了。

set off for 动身去;动身前往

But then the boy saw something in the water ahead of him.

但那时，小男孩看到大海前方有个东西。

Closer and closer he got, until he could see……

他靠着它越来越近，直到他能看清楚……

ahead of （时间、空间）在…前面

……the penguin！

……那是小企鹅！

And so the boy and his friend went home together, talking of wonderful things all the way.

于是小男孩和他的好伙伴一起回了家，他们一路上说着各种各样好玩的事情。
