1.afraid

The little girl is intensely afraid of thunder.

"I have been afraid from day one, but you get used to it, " he said.

2.scared

The child was scared of the fierce looking dog.

If you become scared and back away, then your old conditioning wins.

3.fearful

He felt like doing something fearful.

Are you obsessed by fearful thoughts and worries, or do you have control over your thoughts?

4.frightful.

My pulse quickened when I saw the frightful sight.

You talk of her mind being unsettled. How the devil could it be otherwise in her frightful isolation?

5.awful

An awful lot of people with depression suffer unnecessarily because of a fear of using medication, but it can be very effective.

When Jesus was butchered and cut off from God on that awful cross, it was all the sins of my life He was paying for, and all of yours.

7.terrific

The agony of that moment was terrific.

The roar of a tiger is a terrible sound.

A terrific storm destroyed many houses.

Nothing can erase from her mind the memory of that terrible day.

A horrible sight met her eyes.

9.horrible

His heart sickened at the thought of that horrible scene.

At a most miserable period of my life, I had a notion of the kind: it haunted me on my return to the neighbourhood last summer; but only her own assurance could make me admit the horrible idea again.
