所谓“不定”，就是“不确定、不限定”。从两个方面把握，一个是“数量”不确定；二个“范围”不确定。这一部分，需要掌握以下的不定代词。

一、one

one 指代单数可数名词，可指人，也可指物；可以单独使用，也可单数可数名词前作定语；复数用ones，所有格用one's。

1、单独使用时，泛指“人”，“人们”， “一个人”

One often fails to see one's own faults. 人往往看不见自己的缺点。

One should try one's best to make one's family happy. 一个人应该尽力使自己的家人幸福。

One must take good care of the old. 人们必须照顾好老年人。

2、表示具体的“一个人”或“一个事物”

句子的语境体现具体。

He is not the one you are looking for. 他不是你正在找的那个人。

His father is one of my friends. 他的爸爸是我的一个朋友。

This ruler is the one my father made for me. 这把尺子就是我父亲为我制作的那一把。

3、代替与上文出现的名词同类，但非同一个单数可数名词所表示的物品。

Bill has got a new car, and My sister wants to buy one, too. 比尔有一辆新车，我妹妹也想买一辆。

二、no one, none

• no one 只能指代人，单数可数名词。“没有一个人，一个人也没有”。

none 可指代人，也可指代物。可数与不可数均可。“没有一个人，一个人也没有”；“一个东西也没有，什么也没有”

• none可与of搭配，no one不能与of搭配。
• no one用来回答who的提问；none用来回答how many\how much的提问。

No one in our class has got a fever recently. 我们班最近没有一个人发烧。

None of us has got a fever recently. 最近我们没有一个人发烧。

Who is in the classroom now ? No one. There is no one at school because of the summer holiday. 谁在教室里？没有人。因为暑假了，学校里没有一个人。

How many students are there in the classroom ? None. They are all on the playground. 教室里有多少学生？ 一个也没有。他们都在操场上。

How much milk in your cup? None. 你的杯子里有多少牛奶？ 一点儿也没有了。

三、either, neither

这两个词用法有一个前提：两个

either "两个中的任何一个...“

neither "两个中的任何一个不..."

注意：这两个词表达的是单数的含义。

Either of my parents likes running. 我父母都喜欢跑步。

-- Would you like tea or coffee ? -- Either will do. （I'd like neither, I want juice. )

你想要茶还是咖啡？ 哪一种都行。（哪一种都不要，我想喝果汁。）

Either of us can speak English well. 我们两个任何一个英语说得都很好。（如果这样表达，us含义只包括两个人。）
