痴心妄想 pipe dream

英语解释为a dream or idea that is impossible to accomplish。

(2) 为什么pipe dream表示“痴人说梦”呢？

pipe除了表示“管子，管道”，还表示“（用于抽烟的）烟斗”

而pipe dream就来源于19世纪人们用烟斗吸食鸦片（smoke an opium pipe）。吸食鸦片后会产生幻想（dreams or visions），这种幻想基本都是不可能实现的。所以就有了pipe dream这一表达，形容“不切实际的梦想，痴人说梦”。
