雅思阅读填空大小写

Hi there, thank you for joining me for this IELTS reading lesson. Today we're going to look at the table completion question type.

你好,感谢你参加今天的雅思阅读课。今天我们要研究表格填空题。

This question type is probably the most unique question type and it's the most different to the other questions and so sometimes students don't expect this question type on the exam, but it's very important to prepare for it and to know how to best approach this table completion question and ultimately succeed. So I'm going to take you through some common tips for completion types of questions, because again we'll have to write out the answer.

这个题型可能是最独特的题型,而且它与其他问题的差别最大,所以有时候学生不希望在考试里碰到这个题型,但是为它做好准备并知道如何采取最佳方法应对表格填空题并最终成功是非常重要的。所以我要带你们学习一些常见的填空题技巧,因为同样地,我们必须写出答案。

And then we'll go through a map, a guide for how to best approach this question type. And then we'll do a step-by-step example together.

然后我们将学习一份关于如何最好地应对这个题型的指南。然后我们会一起完成一个逐步示例。

And our example is excellent because it's quite difficult. Even though most completion questions will come more or less in order, usually you may see some table completion questions that could be out of order.

我们的示例很好,因为很难。即使大多数填空题会或多或少地按顺序排列,但是你通常可能会发现它们没有按照顺序来。

And today will be an excellent example as to how to tackle that situation and not let it eat away at your time. Before we get started, I just want to give you some general information about table completion.

今天将是一个很好的例子,说明如何应对这种情况并且不要让它浪费你的时间。在我们开始之前,我想告诉你们一些表格填空题的大致信息。

As you see here on the left hand side, you'll have a table that is incomplete and it has a few gaps. So we'll have to write out the answers based on the information here in the passage.

正如你在左边看到的,有一个不完整的表格,里面有一些空。所以我们得基于文章中的信息把答案写出来。

Now the information in the table will either paraphrase or summarize the information that is in the passage. So you'll have to be familiar with synonyms and ways that paraphrasing can perhaps trick you.

表格中的信息是对文章中信息的解释或者总结。所以你要熟悉同义词以及解释可能会欺骗你的方式。

For example, you might see the word fragments. As we see here in the passage, you might see this word and don't be surprised if in the table you have to write the singular version, so fragment instead of fragments.

例如,你可能会看到 fragments 这个词。我们可能会在文章中看到这个词,如果你要在填空的时候写单数形式而不是复数形式,不要感到惊讶。

These are common tricks that the table completion question is notorious for. So we'll also have to pay attention to our grammar and to the words surrounding our gap fills.

这些都是表格填空题臭名昭著的陷阱。所以我们要注意语法和空周围的词。

And because of this, the scanning technique will be very handy to us. And I'll go through an example of how to scan quickly so that we can find our answers efficiently for this question type.

因此略读技巧对我们来说非常方便。我会讲解如何快速浏览的例子,这样我们可以高效地找到这个题型的答案。

And the last thing I just want to call your attention to are the instructions. You might be familiar with this type of instruction from different completion question types, such as summary completion, and short answer.

最后我想要你们注意提示。你可能通过各种填空题,例如摘要填空和简答题,熟悉了这种提示。

Be aware that they can range from no more than two numbers, and/or a word, to one word only, or no more than three words, for example. So always be aware of the instructions so you know exactly what you have to write and your options.

请注意它们的范围可以从不超过两个数字和/或一个单词到仅有一个词,或不超过三个词。请注意提示这样你就能够确切地知道你要写什么以及你的选项。

And keep in mind that for our example today, we'll be looking for numbers, perhaps words. The most important thing is that we know it's no more than two numbers and one word.

请记住,对于今天的示例,我们要寻找数字,也可能是单词。最重要的就是我们知道它不超过两个数字和一个单词。

Okay, I'm happy to get started. So let's go ahead and look at some helpful reminders for writing in our answers.

好的,我很高兴开始今天的课程。那么我们继续看一些有用的写答案的提示词。

Now you might remember some of these reminders from different completion question types that we've covered, but I just want to review them so they're fresh in our memory and so that we're ready to tackle this question type. For any completion questions, you want to make sure that you remember information about numbers.

你可能通过我们讲解过的各种填空题记住了一些提示词,但是我想要回顾一下,这样能够记牢它们,从而做好准备解决这个题型。对于任何填空题,你要确保你记住了有关数字的信息。

So numbers can be written using the figures themselves. So for example here we have 10, the number, or you can use words, so you can write out 10.

所以数字可以用数字本身写。例如这里我们有数字10,或者你可以写单词,所以你可以把10写出来。

This is the same. It's your preference.

这是一样的。看你的喜好。

You decide. Remember, though, that they count as one word.

你自己决定。不过请记住它们算作一个词。

Remember the instructions will specify this. Today we have no more than two numbers and a word.

请记住提示会指明这个一点。今天我们的提示是不超过两个数字和一次单词。

So keep in mind that they are considered similar to words. Then in terms of words, hyphenated words also count as one word.

请记住,它们被认为与单词相似。就单词而言,带连字符的单词也算作一个词。

So a word like open-minded is joined together by a hyphen. Even though these are two different words, the hyphen makes it one word.

所以像 open-minded 这个用连字符连接的词。即使它们是两个不同的词,连字符使之成为一个单词。

Then do not use contractions. So these are words like can't, don't, things like this.

然后不要用缩略形式。也就是像 can't,don't 这样的单词。

Do exactly what I did here and use do not, spell it out, because the IELTS exam is academic in nature. So you will not see contractions in the passages and you will not be tested on contractions.

请按我这样做,使用 do not,把它拼出来,因为雅思考试是学术性质的。所以你不会在文章中看到缩略形式,并且考试不会考察缩略形式。

So be sure to write out your words. In the completion questions, prepositions and articles, so where it's like the, or an, are usually optional.

所以确保把单词写出来。在填空题中,像 the,或 an 这样的介词和冠词没有硬性要求。

We're looking for keywords. We're looking for key ideas.

我们要找关键词。我们要寻找关键想法。

And these are just considered as extra. When writing out your words, capital letters are best.

这些都是多余的。当你在写单词时,大写字母是最好的。

This keeps everything precise and uniform and consistent. So the person who is reading your exam and checking your exam will not have any doubts as to what you've written.

这会让一切显得准确,统一和一致。这样阅读你的考卷并检查你考卷的人不会对你写的东西有任何怀疑。

And then if you're talking about people or researchers, last names are usually sufficient, because this is academic in nature and last names are key. In fact, in the passages, you'll note that first and last names usually appear in the beginning, the first time a person is mentioned, and then afterwards that person will be referred to by their last name.

还有如果你要谈论人或研究者,通常姓就足够了,因为这是学术性质的,而姓就是关键。事实上在文章中,你会发现名字和姓氏通常会出现在开头,这个人被第一次提到,然后那个人就会用姓来指代了。

So please keep this in mind. Today, we'll be focusing on numbers, but it's always good to review these reminders.

所以请记住这一点。今天我们要专注于数字,但是回顾这些提示词总是很好的。

Alright, let's go to our step by step guide. Now like I said earlier, this table completion question type is quite unique, and so our guide and our step by step example will also be unique.

好吧,我们开始分步指导吧。就像我之前说的,这个表格填空题非常独特,因此我们的指导和分步示例也会很独特。

It'll be a bit different than what we're used to with other types of questions. So our first step is going to be to analyze the table we have.

这跟我们熟悉的其他题型不一样。所以我们的第一步就是分析我们的表格。

And so we'll have to look for different columns. We'll have to see what information is needed and what we have to look for.

然后我们要看到不同的栏目。我们要看需要什么信息,以及我们必须寻找什么。

We want to get a good idea of the subject matter, the theme, if we're going to be looking for numbers or words. And this will help us best approach the passage.

我们要充分了解话题,主题,我们是否要寻找数字或单词。这将帮助我们最好地处理这篇文章。

So first thing we're going to do is analyze the table we have in front of us. Then we're going to identify the grammar.

所以我们要做的第一件事是分析面前的表格。然后我们要辨别语法。

We're going to look at the words surrounding the gaps and this will give us a good clue about what we have to look for in the passage. It could be looking for a noun, or a verb, or an adverb, or an adjective, or in our case today, a number.

我们要看空周围的单词,而这能够让我们清楚地知道我们要在文章中找什么。它可能是名词,或者动词,或者副词,或者形容词,或者像我们今天一样,数字。

So by really identifying the grammar, we're taking care of this preparation work and going into the passage with a very clear view. And this will save us a lot of time.

所以通过明确地辨别语法,我们是在认真地准备,并且带着星清晰的想法浏览文章。这将为我们节省大量时间。

And then you might be familiar with this, the third step, we're going to scan the passage and this is quite common for completion types of questions. Again, scanning is reading with headlights.

你可能对此很熟悉,第三步,我们要浏览文章,而这对于填空题来说很常见。还是那句话,略读就是带着头灯阅读。

So you're reading, looking for specific information. Perhaps it's your keywords or it's the fact that you are looking for, a noun or a specific adjective.

所以你阅读的时候要寻找特定的信息。也许是关键词,或者你要寻找的事实,名词或特定的形容词。

You're going in the passage determined. You're not reading for enjoyment.

你要看给定的文章。你不是为了享受而阅读。

You're not reading to get an idea of the plot, or the theme, or what the author is trying to say, or opinions. You're looking for specific, very specific information that we can put in our table.

你不需要知道情节,或者主题,或者作者要说的,或者观点。你要寻找我们可以填进表格的非常确切具体的信息。

All right, so our steps one, two, and three. Let's go ahead and start with our step one.

好的,这就是我们的第一二三步。我们继续,开始我们的第一步。

Okay, so here we are with step one. We're going to analyze the table.

好的,现在是我们的第一步。我们要分析表格。

On the right hand side, you see we have the table here with our questions one through six. So we have three questions on the left hand side and three questions on the right hand side.

在右边你看到这里的表格有第一题到第六题。所以左边有三题,右边有三题。

So there are two different columns for this table: The Chelyabinsk meteor strike and the Tunguska meteor strike. And again, we'll have to find three different pieces of information for each type of meteor strike.

所以这个表格有两栏:车里雅宾斯克陨石撞击和通古斯卡陨石撞击。同样地,我们要找到每种陨石撞击的三种不同信息。

So there's an equal amount on both sides. And this is good because we'll have to spend time looking for Chelyabinsk and Calisca.

所以两边数量一样。这很好,因为我们要花时间找车里雅宾斯克州和卡利萨卡州。

It's more or less evenly distributed. So this is good to know.

它们或多或少地均匀分布在文章中。知道这一点很好。

And this step also allows us to see the theme. That's present in our reading.

这一步能让我们看到主题。这出现在我们的阅读中。

We'll be looking at meteor strike. So it's quite scientific and we're already introduced to the topic.

我们要了解陨石撞击。这个很具有科学性,我们已经了解了这个主题。

Okay, so that just about satisfies step one. I'll go ahead and clear our screen so that we can go to the next step.

好的,这样就完成了第一步。我要继续,然后清屏,这样我们就可以进入下一步。

Step two, everybody's favorite identifying grammar. All right, we're going to look at the grammar and take some brief notes about the type of word we will be looking for.

第二部,大家最喜欢的辨别语法。好的,我们将要了解语法并做一些简短的笔记,看看我们要寻找的单词的类型。

So I'm just going to briefly read. Here I see that a number 10 meters is located in the first column.

我会简要阅读。在这里我看到第一栏中有一个数字10米。

Let's look at number one. It traveled blank times faster than the speed of sound.

让我们来看第一题。它传播的速度比声速快多少倍。

So I see times faster than the speed of sound. So I'm looking for a number in this case and it's going to be an amount of speed, so some number faster than the speed of sound.

所以我看到了比声速快多少倍。所以在这种情况下我要找一个数字,这是表示速度的量,所以比声速快多少倍。

Okay, number two, it exploded blank above the Earth's surface. So again, this could also be an amount, perhaps, maybe a feet or meters.

好的,第二题,它在地球表面上空什么爆炸。所以这里可能是一个数量,也许是英尺或米。

So something that would designate distance, because we see above the surface so that gives us a nice clue that we're talking about distance. Number three, it released blank times more energy than the Hiroshima atomic bomb, very similar to number one, because we see times again.

所以是表示具体的东西,因为我们看到了表面上空,而这给了我们一个很好的线索,我们在谈论距离。第三题,它释放的能量比广岛原子弹多多少倍,与第一题非常相似,因为我们再次看到了倍数。

So this will also be some sort of amount. Most importantly, it will be a number.

所以这会是某种数量。最重要的是,它将是一个数字。

And then again, we see meteor strikes every ten years. The fact that we have ten in the first and last column is also a good clue that one through three will probably also be in numbers.

然后我们再次看到每十年一次陨石撞击。我们在第一栏和最后一栏里看到了十这个事实也是一个很好的线索,一到三题很可能是数字。

And just remember your instructions say no more than two numbers and one word. So it isn't uncommon that one through three are numbers.

请记住你的提示里说不超过两个数字和一个单词。所以第一题到第三题都是数字也不稀奇了。

Alright, let's move to the right hand side, the Tunguska meteor strike. Number four, the meteor was blank meters in diameter.

好的,我们移到右边,通古斯卡陨石撞击。第四题,陨石的直径有多少米。

Quite clear since we have meters here and we're looking at a diameter. This is going to be a number.

很明显了,因为这里我们看到了米,我们要找直径。这里会是一个数字。

We're going to look for a number of meters. Number five, it entered the atmosphere above Russia at about blank per hour.

我们要找一个表示米的数字。第五题,它以每小时多少的速度进入俄罗斯上方的大气层。

Again, not surprisingly, we're looking at a number. So it's some sort of speed.

同样地,毫不奇怪,我们要找一个数字。所以这里是某种速度。

Again, it's going to be an amount. And here, 28,000 feet, we see another number.

同样地,这也会是一个数量。这里的28,000英尺,我们看到了另一个数字。

185 times, we see another number. And then number six meteor strikes of this kind occur on average every blank years.

185倍,我们看到了另一个数字。然后第六题,这种陨石撞击平均来说每多少年发生一次。

And so the fact that we see every and here's is an excellent clue that this will be a number as well. Wow, one through six, they're going to be numbers.

所以我们看到了每,而这是一个很好的线索,这里也会是一个数字。哇,第一题到第六题,它们都是数字。

So this is great we've already identified what we need. They're all nouns in this case, because they are all numbers.

我们已经确定了我们需要的东西,这很好。在这种情况下,它们都是名词,因为它们都是数字。

But imagine if you had not done this step. If you had not done this step, you would have just approached the text scanning for words or scanning for everything.

但请想象一下,如果你没有进行这一步。如果你没有进行这一步,你会直接浏览文章寻找所有内容。

And in this case, we're very fortunate to know that we're just looking for numbers. Excellent, I'll clear our screen just so that we can check here and we can see our highlights.

在这种情况下,我们很幸运地知道我们要寻找数字。很好,我要清屏,这样我们就可以检查这里,看到我们强调的内容。

And this is everything we looked at. The fact here that distance is an amount, perhaps in feet or meters, is also a number.

这就是我们所看到的一切。这里的距离是一个数量,也许是以英尺或米为单位,也是数字。

All right, excellent, let's continue to scanning our passage. Step three, scan the passage and then answer the questions.

好的,很棒,我们继续浏览文章。第三步,浏览文章然后答题。

So we're going to scan our passage. And when we found a section that has a similar theme to our table into our gap fills, we can start scanning for information.

所以我们将浏览我们的文章。当我们找到跟表格有相似内容的部分时,我们就可以开始跳读搜索信息了。

Okay, we'll have to look for synonyms and it's an excellent idea to block off the section. So for example, if I see a number such as 30 times brighter, if I block off this section, I can reference it and I can go back to it when I start answering my questions.

好的,我们要寻找同义词,锁定这一部分是个绝妙的主意。例如,如果我看到一个数字,例如30倍亮,如果我锁定这一部分,我可以根据它回到原文,然后开始回答问题。

Or I could skip a question and make a little note in my margin for where I should go back to when I come back to that question. And so once we've found good areas or a good area to answer our question, we're going to go back and answer the question.

或者我可以跳过题目,然后在我的边注上做点笔记,标注出我应该回到那里。所以一旦我们找到了回答问题的正确区域,我们要回到原文然后回答问题。

And just remember that if you have to, you can always go back to reference these little notes that you make in the actual test. So I'll just clear our screen here quickly and go back down to our table.

请记住,在考试中如果你需要,你可以随时回头看这些小笔记。所以我要清屏,然后会到我们的表格。

Just to refresh our memory, we want to write no more than two numbers and one word. Okay, so I'll just move down a bit.

请记住,我们要写不超过两个数字和一个词。好的,所以我要向下移动一点。

So we have all of our information. Okay, almost all of our information will scroll down and I'm just going to scan the text with these numbers.

所以我们有了所有信息。好的,几乎我们所有的信息都会向下滚动,我要利用这些数字来浏览文本。

And with this information in mind, I will give you a clue that in this specific example, the answers do not come in order. So it's extra difficult.

记住这个信息,我要告诉你在这个特定的例子中答案不会按照顺序来。所以这是非常困难的。

It'll be great to follow along with me. Now for those readings that have a lot of numbers just like we have today, it's an excellent idea to read for these numbers.

跟着我一起会很棒。对于那些像我们今天看到的有大量数字的阅读而言,阅读寻找这些数字是个好主意。

It's very easy to pick numbers from a passage of words. So use that to your advantage.

从一篇满是单词的文章中找出数字很简单。请利用这一点。

Obviously, you don't want to get confused with words like dates, if they're not included in your reading. But really think about these numbers because in a way, these are your key words.

很显然,你不能被日期这样的信息迷惑,如果它们不在你的阅读中。但是请真正思考这些数字,因为在某种程度上,这些是你的关键词。

And of course, you don't want to forget your headings. So we have Chelyabinsk and Tunguska meteor strikes to scan for.

当然,你不能忘记标题。所以我们要寻找车里雅宾斯克和通古斯卡陨石撞击。

And if I start just with these headings, I already see Chelyabinsk right in the first paragraph, also here above. So we can start here and we can scan for our key words.

如果我从标题开始看,我已经在上面的第一段中看到了车里雅宾斯克。所以我们可以从这里开始,我们可以浏览搜寻关键词。

And so I'll start here. It says, to the people of Chelyabinsk, the meteors shown 30 times brighter than Sun and had twenty to thirty times more energy than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

所以我从这里开始。它说,对车里雅宾斯克人来说,流星的亮度比太阳亮30倍,能量是掉落在广岛的原子弹的二十到三十倍。

All right, I'm not sure if you remember, but I definitely remember, we had information about the atomic bomb and Hiroshima, and I definitely remember times and times in our column. So let me go ahead and just erase these highlights so we don't get confused.

好的,我不确定你是否记得,但我绝对记得我们有关于原子弹和广岛的信息,我绝对记得我们的栏目中的倍数。我们继续,把这些强调信息清楚,这样我们不会感到困惑。

And I'll move down so we can see everything that is included in our columns. And immediately, I see Hiroshima and the bomb right here for number three.

我要往下移动,这样我们可以看到栏目中的所有信息。我马上就在第三题看到了广岛和炸弹。

So it says, it released blanked times more energy than the Hiroshima atomic bomb. And we are talking about Chelyabinsk in this left hand side.

所以它说,它释放的能量是广岛原子弹的多少倍。我们谈论的是左边的车里雅宾斯克。

So just to go ahead and read again. The meteors shown thirty times brighter than the Sun and had a twenty to thirty times more energy than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

那么我们继续再读一下。陨石的亮度比太阳多三十倍,能量比落在广岛的原子弹多二十到三十倍。

Now a very common pitfall with this is the fact that you see two different numbers, so you see 30, and you see 20 to 30. And students might be confused as to which one is the correct answer for number three.

这是非常常见的陷阱,因为你看到了两个不同的数字,所以你看到了30,然后你看到了20到30。学生可能会对第三题的答案是哪个数字感到困惑。

We know that number three is contained in this sentence because we have these excellent key words here, atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, atomic bomb here, and Hiroshima here. Notice how it is worded a bit differently, but this is common for the exam.

我们知道第三题在这句话里,因为我们有这些优秀的关键词,落在广岛的原子弹,这里的原子弹,这里的广岛。这里的措辞有点不一样,但是这在考试里很常见。

So we want to look at what is directly related to the Hiroshima atomic bomb. And that brings us to 20 to 30, not just 30, but 20 to 30, because 30 is talking about how bright and how much brighter than the Sun the meteor was.

所以我们要看什么跟广岛原子弹直接关联。这让我们看到20到30,而不只是30,而是20到30,因为30是谈论陨石比太阳亮多少。

So not 30, don't fall for that trick. Number three would be 20 to 30.

所以不是30,不要落入陷阱。第三题是20到30。

That is the correct answer. And now at the end of this passage, we will see the various ways that you could write this, but just be aware that you could write 20 with a hyphen in the middle 30 as it is in the text, or you could write 20 to, the letter T and the letter O 30.

这是正确的答案。在文章的末尾,我们会看到你可以写的各种方式,但要注意,你可以像文章中一样在20和30中间写一个连字符,或者你可以写 to。

Again, we'll look at this at the end, so don't worry. Okay, so we have number three completed.

同样地,我们会在结束的时候说这个,不要担心。好的,我们已经完成了第三题。

And notice how this was presented first in the paragraph. Table completion questions are usually in order, but don't be surprised, if the IELTS exam plays a little bit of a trick on you.

请注意这在这一段里被首先呈现。表格填空题常常是按照顺序来的,但是如果雅思考试想给你设个小陷阱,你也不要惊讶。

So we were prepared for this and now let's clear our screen and continue on. So we're still going to look here at Chelyabinsk.

所以我们已经准备好了,我们来清屏继续吧。所以我们还是要看到这里的车里雅宾斯克。

We can mentally cross off number three, we don't have to worry about this for now. We're looking at faster than the speed of sound, Earth's surface.

我们可以跳过第三题了,我们现在不用担心这个了。我们看到了比声速快,地球表面。

And also the fact that it exploded would be something good to look at. And so I'm going to just mark off our area here and look for some numbers, and look for some of these words.

而且它爆炸的这个事实也要看一下。所以我要标记这个区域,然后寻找一些数字,寻找一些单词。

And so already I see exploded. So this might be a great place for number two.

所以我已经看到爆炸了。所以这可能是第二题的依据。

And I see a distance. If you remember, number two was a distance and also obviously a number but kilometers is a distance.

而且我看到了距离。如果你还记得,第二题是关于距离的,而且很显然是一个数字,但是公里是距离。

So I already have an excellent idea that this could be the correct answer. But let's just read ahead and make sure that we're 100% confident.

所以我已经知道这可能是正确的答案了。但是我们继续阅读并确保我们有100%的信心。

So it exploded 29.7 kilometers above the ground. And this says here above the Earth's surface.

所以它在地面上方29.7公里爆炸了。而它这里说了地球表面。

You see, it's a synonym. The Earth's surface, you could also say ground.

你看,这是个同义词。地球表面,也可以说地面。

And so that is perfect. It exploded 29.7 kilometers.

因此非常完美。它在29.7公里的地方爆炸。

Now keep in mind that the 29.7 alone will not be the correct answer. Because again, we're looking for a distance.

请记住单单是29.7不会是正确答案。因为我们在找距离。

And this is what the instructions mean when they say no more than two numbers and one word. So in this case, the word is kilometres.

而这是提示中说不超过两个数字和一个单词的意思。所以在这里那个单词是公里。

So again, just to highlight that off, 29.7 kilometers. At the end we will look at the spelling.

同样地,要把它凸现出来,29.7公里。最后我们要讲拼写。

There are two ways to spell kilometres the British way and the American way. Here we have the British spelling.

公里的拼法有两种,英式拼法和美式拼法。我们这里是英式拼法。

Note that the American spelling is also accepted. But again, I'll show that to you at the end of the video.

请注意美式拼法也是接受的。但是同样地,我会在视频结尾告诉你。

All right, and so for Chelyabinsk, we have just one more left. We see here, it travelled blank times faster than the speed of sound.

好的,对于车里雅宾斯克我们还剩下一题。我们在这里看到,它行进的速度比声速快多少倍。

So let's go ahead and scan the text for this information. And so I'll just move down a bit because I'm looking at numbers, for example, 1500.

所以我们继续浏览搜寻信息吧。所以我会向下移动一点,因为我在看数字,例如1500。

But that is not included in my table so I'm going to just skip it for now. I also see some temperature.

但这个数字不包含在我的表格中,因此我现在暂时跳过它。我也看到一些温度。

But already I see here the speed of sound, which is what we have in the table here. So I'm going to read a little bit here and find how many times faster it traveled.

但是我已经在这里看到了声速,这是我们在表格里看到的。所以我要读一点,然后看看它比它快多少倍。

So it says, it crashed through the upper atmosphere at around 19 kilometers a second, above 50 times the speed of sound. So again, we see 19 and we see 50.

所以它说,它以每秒约19公里的速度坠落通过高空大气层,比声速快50倍。同样地,我们看到了19和50。

And students might think, alright, I know we're in this area but I'm not sure of the correct number. And that's where we have to look at these words.

而学生们可能会认为,好的,我知道我们在这个区域,但是我不确定正确的数字。而这是我们要看这些词的地方。

So times faster would be 50, because it says 50 times. 19 kilometers is a distance.

所以应该是快50倍,因为它说50倍。19公里是距离。

And from our step 2, we knew that number 1 was a number and not a distance. So this would be 50.

而从我们的第二部,我们知道第一题是数字而不是距离。所以应该是50。

It would simply be a number. And you could go ahead and write 50 the number or you could write out the words 50, fifty.

它只是一个数字。你可以继续写数字50,或者你可以写单词。

That is the correct answer. So you don't want to get confused with conflicting information and two types of numbers in the same sentence.

这是正确的答案。所以你不能混淆同一句话中冲突的信息和两种数字。

This is a common trick for table completion question types, especially when they involve numbers, because this will confuse students. Some students would write 19 and that would be absolutely incorrect.

这是表格填空题型的常见陷阱,尤其当它们包含数字时,因为这会迷惑学生。有些学生会写19,这完全不正确。

Again, notice how this was not in order. So we have to be alert about our numbers and our words in the table.

还有要注意到它不是按照顺序来的。所以我们要小心表格里的数字和单词。

Let's go ahead and continue. Now we're going to be scanning for Tunguska.

我们继续。现在我们要搜索通古斯卡的信息。

So we haven't come across Tunguska yet. We're still at Chelyabinsk.

所以我们还没有看到通古斯卡。但我们还在车里雅宾斯克的部分。

And so I'm just going to scan until I see Tunguska. And so finally here, we see it at the at the end of the passage.

所以我要浏览直到我看到通古斯卡。所以最后我们在文章的最后看到它了。

So I see the Tunguska River and air bursts the size of Tunguska. Okay, so I think this might be the right area.

所以我看到了通古斯卡河还有空气爆炸的尺寸跟通古斯卡一样。好的,所以我想这是正确的区域。

I'm just going to scan for meteor and diameter, atmosphere, per hour. Let's see what we find.

我要找到陨石和直径,大气层,每小时。看看我们发现了什么。

Already I see the word diameter here. And it says information about the event is scarce, the theory most scientists share is that an asteroid around 36.5 meters in diameter and traveling at 54,000 km/h entered the atmosphere above Russia.

我已经在这里看到了直径这个词。它说关于这个事件的信息很少,大多数科学家公认的理论是,一颗直径大约36.5米的小行星以时速54,000 km / h进入俄罗斯上空。

Alright, so the fact that we are under Tunguska in this column here is an excellent clue that the diameter under Tunguska in the passage is 36.5 and that is our answer for number four. 36.5 meters in diameter.

好的,因为我们在通古斯卡这一栏下面,所以这是一个很好的线索,文章中通古斯卡下面的直径是36.5,而这就是我们第四题的答案。直径36.5米。

Be sure not to write 36.5 meters, since meters is included here. So don't make that mistake.

不要写36.5米,因为这里有了米。所以。所以不要犯那个错。

Just the number is needed, okay, 36.5. Now I'm going to stick right here around this sentence because I read that it entered the atmosphere above Russia.

只需要数字,36.5。我会停留在这个句子附近,因为读到它进入了俄罗斯上空的大气层。

And again we're looking at per hour. So the fact that I see per hour also here brings me to this lovely number 54000 kilometers.

同样我们也看到了每小时。所以我们看到了每小时,这让我们看到了可爱的54000公里。

And so again we were aware that it would be a number. But it also makes sense that it would be kilometers, because it's kilometers per hour.

同样地我们意识到这里会一个数字。但是因为它是公里每小时,所以这里是公里也说得通。

So we have our answer also for number five, fifty four thousand kilometers. Okay, so you see how this section contained two and also it will contain our last answer.

所以我们也找到了第五题的答案,54000公里。好的,所以你看到这个部分包含两个答案以及我们最后一个答案。

And it's all the way at the end of the text. So by scanning for Chelyabinsk and also Tunguska, really led us in the right direction.

而且它一直延续到文章的结尾。因此通过浏览寻找车里雅宾斯克和通古斯卡将我们引上了正确的方向。

We clear our screen and move down to our last question, which is about meteor strikes. Alright, so again, we were right around here.

我们清屏然后移动到下面的最后一题,也就是陨石撞击。好的,我们就在这附近。

And so our answer is probably going to be contained here. We're looking at meteor strikes.

所以我们的答案很可能会在这里。我们在看陨石撞击。

And again, I see Tunguska and it says, 1,200 years on average. This is a number that I see in the passage.

我又一次看到通古斯卡,它说平均1200年。这是我在文章中看到的数字。

It says, on average, which is very similar to our table here, airbursts is not the same word as meteor strikes, but it is an excellent synonym. And so, airbursts the size of Tunguska are estimated to occur every 1,200 years on average.

它说,平均来看,这跟表格中的内容相似,空气爆炸跟陨石撞击不是一个词,但是是一个很棒的同义词。所以范围跟通古斯卡一样大的空气爆炸平均每1200年发生一次。

So that gives us an excellent clue that this answer is 1200. And make note that this sentence and this information here is not worded exactly the same.

这为我们提供了一个很好的线索,答案是1200。请注意这个句子和这里的信息措词不是完全一样。

It's paraphrased like I talked about in the beginning. But it still has the same meaning.

它跟我刚开始说的一样,换了个说法。但是意思不变。

So that would be 1200. Okay, let's go ahead and clear these drawings and just review.

所以答案是1200。好的,我们继续清除这些笔迹然后回顾一下。

So we looked at Chelyabinsk. Number one was that it traveled 50 times faster than the speed of sound.

所以我们看了车里雅宾斯克。第一题是它行进的速度是比声速快50倍。

We found that up here in the beginning. We found that in the middle of the text, not in the beginning.

我们在开始就发现了。我们是在文本的中间而不是开头发现的。

It's more around here, so 50 times. Number two, it exploded 29.7 kilometers above the Earth's surface or the ground.

应该是在这里,所以是50倍。第二题,它在地球表面或地面上方29.7公里处爆炸。

Number three was twenty to thirty times more energy. So if you remember, that was found right in the beginning of our, look into this passage, it was right around here.

第三题是20到30倍能量。所以如果你记得,它是在文章的开头被找到的。

And then for Tunguska, we had to move all the way down to the end of the passage, which again is rare for table completion. But it's better to practice with something difficult.

然后对于通古斯卡,我们得向下移动到文章结尾,这对于表格填空题型来说很罕见。但是做有点难度的练习更好。

We noticed that it was36.5 meters in diameter. And number five, it was traveling at 45000 kilometers per hour, but the answer would only be 45000 kilometers, because per hour is included here.

我们注意到是直径36.5米。然后第五题,它以45000公里每小时的速度行进,但是但是就是45000,因为每小时已经在那里了。

And then number six was 1200, so 1,200 years on average. Okay, I'll clear our screen for one last time.

然后第六题是1200,所以是平均1200年。好的,我要最后一遍清屏了。

And so note here that when I show our answers, it's only going to show one type of answer, but I will take you through on the right hand side and show you the different ways that you could write or spell the answers. Okay, so here we go, let's show our answers.

所以请注意当我显示答案的时候,它只会显示一种答案,但是我会带你们到右边,并向你们展示写答案的不同方式。好的,那就这样,我们来显示答案。

And they are correct. So these are exactly what we talked about the spelling is the same as what was in the text.

全对。所以这就是我们谈论的拼写跟文本中的一样。

But let me just show you, you could write 50 or you can write it out. For number two, which was up here, you could write kilometers with the British spelling or the American spelling.

我展示给你看,你可以写数字50或写单词。这里的第二题,你可以下公里的英式或美式拼法。

I always find it helpful to just stick with the spelling that you see presented in the passage, because you won't make a mistake about spelling. And it's already in there for you, so it's easier to just stick with that spelling.

我发现跟文章中的拼写一致很有用,因为你不能犯拼写错误。而它已经给你写好了,所以跟那个拼写一致更简单。

Number three, 20 to 30. So you can use the word or the dash.

第三题,20到30。所以你可以使用单词或破折号。

Let's go down to number four. We see 36.5.

我们看到下面的第四题。我们看到36.5。

This is really the only way to do it, because if you were to write thirty six point five, that would be strange, because you'd have to write point. And I've never seen that done.

这确实是唯一的写法,因为如果你写三十六点五,这样就很奇怪了,因为你必须写点这个词。而我从没见人那么写过。

So if you have points like this, stick to writing the number. And again here, you don't have necessarily write the comma for 45000 or 1200.

所以如果你要写小数点,请写数字。这里你不用给45000或1200加逗号。

It doesn't make any difference, so just keep that in mind. And again, kilometers or kilometres.

这不会有任何区别,因此请记住这一点。然后 kilometers 或 kilometres 都可以。

All right, excellent job. This passage had us going back and forth and in the end scanning for these two meteor strikes and the information in our table brought us to the right answers.

好的,干得漂亮。这篇文章让我们一直在末尾来回浏览寻找这两次陨石撞击,而表格中的信息让我们找到了正确的答案。

Good job. All right, let's just wrap up here with our table completion recap.

干得漂亮。好的,我们一起来回顾一下表格填空题。

So things to do. You want to analyze the table and understand the best way to approach it.

要做的事情。你要分析表格并理解处理这个问题的最佳方法。

So we took some time beforehand and we looked at the two columns, the fact that three pieces of information would be required for each type of meteor. And this really helped us organize ourselves and really approach the passage with a determined mindset.

所以我们事先花了一些时间看了这两栏,每种流星都需要提供三项信息。这确实帮助我们整理自己的思路,并且用坚定的态度处理文章。

You also want to read the summarized information in the table so that you're well aware of the themes and the information that you'll have to look for. Of course identify the parts of speech that would fit in the gaps.

你还要阅读表格中的摘要信息,这样你可以充分了解主题和需要查找的信息。当然要确定适合填空的词性。

In our case, we were looking at numbers or distances, but we already knew that we had to just scan for numbers. This saved us a lot of time.

在这里我们要寻找数字或距离,但是我们已经知道我们只需要浏览寻找数字就可以了。这能节省我们很多时间。

We weren't scanning for unnecessary words. We knew that numbers were our answers.

我们不用搜寻不必要的单词。我们知道那些数字是我们的答案。

Of course scan the passage. We are not reading for information.

当然要浏览文章。我们阅读不是为了获取信息。

In fact, we probably couldn't tell anybody what we learned from this passage, because we were looking just for numbers and very specific information. And that is fine, because scanning is the strategy that will get you points and make you successful for table completion questions.

事实上,我们可能无法告诉任何人我们从这段文章中学到了什么,因为我们只是在寻找数字和特定信息。这样很好,因为略读就是能让你得分并成功完成表格填空题的策略。

Of course you want to write the correct amount of words, or numbers on your answer sheets. And make sure that you're not repeating things like kilometers or per hour, if it's already written in your question table.

当然你要在答题纸上写正确的单词数和数字。确保不要重复写公里或每小时,如果它已经在问题表格中写出来了。

Of course don't read the entire passage first. That's probably the worst thing you could do for table completion questions.

当然不要先阅读全文。这可能是你在表格填空题中做的最糟糕的事情。

Don't read for general information. This is not fun, pleasurable reading, so look only for the information you need.

请不要阅读大致信息。这不是有趣的阅,所以只寻找你需要的信息。

Like I said before, don't write more words than necessary. That's just more work for you and also fewer points for you.

如我之前所说,不要写过多的单词。这样费力不讨好。

And of course don't misspell words or use incorrect grammar. Use the words in the passage to your advantage.

当然不要拼写错误或使用错误的语法。利用文章中的单词。

So for example, you could use the spelling for kilometers just like you saw in the passage and you'll be fine. All right, excellent job.

比如你可以使用你在文章中看到的公里的写法,这样就可以了。好的,干得漂亮。

This was a mix of a little bit of math today with these numbers and also reading. Excellent job, this was a difficult passage.

今天是数学和阅读的结合。干得漂亮,这是一篇困难的文章。

I hope that you can approach your table completion questions with a bit more clarity and a more determined mindset so that you can start your questions and then finish them and move on to the next passage. Thanks again for joining me.

我希望你对处理表格填空题更加明确,想法更加坚定,这样你就可以开始回答问题,完成问题,然后做下一篇文章。感谢你的收看。
