While I was only halfway through the recounting for the second time - the plan is to read you each book three times - of the stories from Good English book 5b, the book was nowhere to be found. Days ago you laid your hands on 6a and 6b after pestering me for them, but later I put them out of your sight when your back was turned because I supposed that only after you got 5b out of the way should you start 6a. Now I decided to sidestep the missing 5b and guide you to 6a. You were on top of the world when I dug out the book from its stash.

《典范英语》每本我都要给你读3遍。5b读到第2遍一半儿的时候，书找不着了。几天前你缠着拿到了6a和6b，可是后来趁你不注意我把书给藏起来了，因为我觉得5b读完才能读6a。现在，5b没了，就放弃吧，让你开始6b了。我把书从藏的地方掏出来，你高兴极了。

After the ceiling light was killed, the waxy light from the table lamp fell in a pool on the opposite wall. You put out your hands to cast shadows on the wall, mimicking a character in 6a's first story - one I read you moments ago- who makes a dog-shaped shadow with his hands. Of course, you were trying to walk on water. Mummy showed you the tricks of the trade by making shadows of bird and goat, and then cupped your hands and crooked your fingers to get the fancied silhouettes.
