一、one和ones的用法

1.one指代上文已经出现过的可数名词单数，指同一类但不是同一个; one表示泛指，the one表示特指。ones为one的复数形式，指代上文已经出现过的可数名词复数。one和ones二者既可指人，也可指物。例如：

• If you're buying today's paper from the stand, could you get one for me? 如果你从报刊亭买今天的报纸，你能帮我买一份吗？（指代a paper）

• Oh, I'm sorry. Have I taken the one you wanted? 哟，对不起。我是不是拿了你想要的那个？（特指“你想要的那个”）

• The new designs are much better than the old ones. 这些新设计比那些旧的好得多。（指代designs）

2.one在正式文体中，常单独使用，泛指 “人(们)，一个人”。例如：

• He believed that one should always be curious. 他认为人应该永远怀有好奇心。

3.one可以和the other/another连用：one...the other用于两者，意为“一个......另一个......”；one...another用于两者以上，意为“一个......另一个......”。例如：

• We have two foreign teachers here. One is from England, and the other is from America. 我们这里有两位外教。一位来自英格兰，另一位来自美国。

• One is food security, another is climate change and the third is the threat of a worldwide outbreak of influenza. 其一是食品安全问题，另一个是气候变化，第三是流行感冒全球性爆发的威胁。

二、one和ones的注意事项

1.当one前面有形容词修饰时，形容词前面必须有冠词或代词。例如:

• Frozen fish isn't as tasty as the fresh one. 冷冻的鱼没有新鲜的鱼美味。

2.“one of 可数名词/代词宾格的复数形式” 结构表示“(某些人或物中的)一个”。例如：

• Confucius is one of his favourite philosophers. 孔子是他最喜欢的哲学家之一。

• One of them comes from our earliest years. 其中之一就来自我们的童年时光。

3.one/ones前面有限定词the、this、that、these、those修饰时，表示特指的人或物。例如：

• Compared with previous studies, she finds the speed of breaking down in this one exciting. 与之前的研究相比，她发现这一研究中分解的速度令人兴奋。

• They are the ones who try to improve the company's products and think of ideas for new products. 他们是努力改进公司产品，为新产品出谋献策的人。

4.one用作限定词时，用来代替a/an以强调后面的名词(短语)。例如：

• I am fond of my sister but she has one serious shortcoming. 我喜欢我的妹妹，但她有一个严重的缺点。(one代替a, 强调serious shortcoming)

5.one用作形容词时，意为“仅有的，唯一的”，在句中作定语。例如：

• They had alienated the one man who knew the business. 他们已经疏远了那个唯一懂这行的人。

6.one和ones构成的固定短语。例如：

• one after another/the other 一个接一个地

• one by one 逐个，逐一

• at one time 曾经，一度

• for one thing 一方面

• one and only 唯一的，仅有的

• one good turn deserves another 礼尚往来

• one in a thousand 千里挑一，稀有的；杰出的

• in ones and twos 三三两两地
