各种项目英语怎么说？开幕式? 金牌榜？还有，你知道，里约热内卢英语怎么念吗？

“里约热内卢”到底怎么念？

Rio de Janeiro /ˈri oʊ deɪ ʒəˈnɛər oʊ/: 里约热内卢

Rio: 里约

Most people say "Rio" for convenience sake: 大家平时图方便，都说Rio

Brazil /brə'zil/: 巴西

Host country: 主办国

Host city: 主办城市

Rio is hosting the 2016 Olympics: 里约主办2016年奥运会

There are two ways to say it: 1) The Olympics, 2) The Olympic games

有两种说法，关键要注意"s"的位置。不要说成The Olympic，也不能说The Olympics games。

There are some sports which I don't think should be in the Olympics: 有些项目我觉得不该是奥运项目

For instance, indoor cycling: 比如室内自行车

My gripe with indoor cycling is that you need expensive apparatus and a venue to compete. It's a rich man's sport: 我对它的嘈点是需要很昂贵的设备设施，是有钱人的精英运动

Whereas some events like running, is all about body power and mental drive: 但是像跑步这样的项目，就是人类体能和意志力的体现

You can come from a very poor background and still be at the top of the game: 即使是贫穷国家的运动员，也有可能达到世界最高水平

Speaking of running, there's short distance, also known as sprint, and long distance, marathon being the ultimate long distance running: 说到跑步，有短距离，也叫sprint, 还有长距离, 例如马拉松这种终极长距离跑
