英语语法第29讲情态动词(英语学霸养成记之情态动词Will用法解析)
情态动词(Modal verbs)本身有一定的词义,表示语气的单词。但是不能独立作谓语,只能和动词原形一起构成谓语。情态动词用在行为动词前,表示说话人对这一动作或状态的看法或主观设想。情态动词虽然数量不多,但用途广泛,主要有下列: can (could), may (might), must, need, ought to, dare (dared), shall (should), will (would)等,瀚森教育英语名师根据多年教学经验,全面总结了情态动词Will的用法,希望大家能够熟练掌握。
第一、Will作为情态动词使用
1. MODAL You use will to indicate that you hope, think, or have evidence that something is going to happen or be the case in the future. 将会
例: I'm sure we will find a wide variety of choices available in school cafeterias.
我相信我们将会发现学校的自助餐厅里有多种多样的选择。
例: Will you ever feel at home here? 你在这儿会感到自在吗?
例: The ship will not be ready for a month. 这艘船一个月内将不会准备就绪。
2. MODAL You use will in order to make statements about official arrangements in the future. 表示将来的正式安排
例: The show will be open to the public at 2 pm; admission will be $5. 展览将于下午2点对公众开放;入场费为$5。
3. MODAL You use will in order to make promises and threats about what is going to happen or be the case in the future. (表示承诺或威胁) 将
例: I'll call you tonight. 我今晚将会打电话给你。
例: Price quotes on selected product categories will be sent on request. 所选产品类型的报价将索要即寄。
4. MODAL You use will to indicate someone's intention to do something. 想要
(1) 例: I will say no more on these matters, important though they are. 我不想对这些事再说些什么,尽管它们很重要。
(2) 例: In this section we will describe common myths about cigarettes, alcohol, and marijuana. 在这一节我们想讲述有关香烟、酒和大麻的一些常见的错误认识。
(3) 例: "Dinner's ready."—"Thanks, Carrie, but we'll have a drink first." “晚饭做好了。” — “谢谢,卡丽,但是我们想先喝一杯。”
(4) 例: Will you be remaining in the city? 你想留在这座城市里吗?
5. MODAL You use will in questions in order to make polite invitations or offers. …好吗 (用在问句中,表示礼貌的邀请或提议) [礼貌]
(1) 例: Will you stay for supper? 你留下来吃晚饭好吗?
(2) 例: Will you join me for a drink? 和我喝一杯好吗?
6. MODAL You use will in questions in order to ask or tell someone to do something. 好吗 (用在问句中,表示请人或告诉某人做某事)
例: Will you drive me home? 你开车送我回家好吗?
例: Will you listen again, Andrew? 再听一遍好吗,安德鲁?
7. MODAL You use will to say that someone is willing to do something. You use will not or won't to indicate that someone refuses to do something. 愿意
例: All right, I'll forgive you. 好吧,我愿意原谅你。
8. MODAL You use will to say that a person or thing is able to do something in the future. 表示将来能做某事
例: How the country will defend itself in the future has become increasingly important.

9. MODAL You use will to indicate that an action usually happens in the particular way mentioned. 通常会 (用于表明某动作通常以特定方式发生)

10. MODAL You use will in the main clause of some "if" and "unless" sentences to indicate something that you consider to be fairly likely to happen. 会 (用在)(if)(和)(unless)(引导的从句的主句中,表示某事很可能发生)
例:If you overcook the meat it will be dry. 你如果煮过头,肉会很干。
11. MODAL You use will to say that someone insists on behaving or doing something in a particular way and you cannot change them. You emphasize will when you use it in this way. 总是要

第二、Will表示希望某事发生
will / wɪl / ( willing , willed , wills )
1. N-VAR Will is the determination to do something. 意志
例: He was said to have lost his will to live. 据说他已经丧失了活下去的意志。
2. N-SING If something is the will of a person or group of people with authority, they want it to happen. 意愿
例: He has submitted himself to the will of God. 他已经让自己听从上帝的意旨。
3. V-T If you will something to happen, you try to make it happen by using mental effort rather than physical effort. 希望 (某事发生)
例: I looked at the telephone, willing it to ring. 我看着电话,希望它响起来。
4. N-COUNT A will is a document in which you declare what you want to happen to your money and property when you die. 遗嘱
例: Attached to his will was a letter he had written to his wife just days before his death.
他遗嘱中附带的是他去世前几天写给妻子的一封信。
5. PHRASE If something is done against your will, it is done even though you do not want it to be done. 违背某人的意愿
例: No doubt he was forced to leave his family against his will. 毫无疑问,他是被迫违心地离开家人的。
