Joel Embiid Has Played Less Than 200 Organized Basketball Games In His Entire Life.

He’s played one JV season, one varsity season, a shortened college season (28 games), a shorted rookie season (31 games), and last season (71 games).

This is also his first healthy offseason since high school, and he hasn’t been able to practice during the NBA season. Even with this total lack of experience, he was still a top 10 player last year.

That’s insane.

It is insane, yeah. The level of progression he did during his rookie year, where he played like half the season, was as close to miraculous as we're likely to see. Which is why it's so exciting to think where he'll be 2-3 years from now.

The improvement he made while at Kansas was mind-boggling. He went from an unplayable oaf to a dream-shaking rim-protector in about 3 months. I don't think he had much of a jump shot though -- that was developed after being drafted.

I need him to be healthy so bad. He works so damn hard at this game. He deserves to realize his full potential and fans deserve to see it.

The best part is there are still a ton of very tangible parts of his game that he can realistically improve on. From cutting down turnovers/improving his reactions to double teams to drawing fouls more in the post (he already shoots a lot of foul shots but this is only going to increase as he gets bigger/stronger), his ball handling needs to be tightened up to reduce turnovers (also getting better at double teams will help with that), and he has a ton of room to improve his three.

I see no reason he won't fix and improve on all of that in the next 2-3 years. He puts in the work and he studies his ass off.

He did a lot of work on his handle and double teams in the off season. I think we will see big improvements in both areas.

And yeah, apparently Brett wants him to shoot less threes and play more bully ball to draw fouls this year.

He shot 6 threes last night...so maybe he didn't listen haha.

Embiid has got to remain a threat from 3, even if he doesn’t shoot them. If he can remain a threat, big men are going to have to guard him out there, and he’s got the speed and the moves to blow past them.

Beal was drafted in AD/Lillard draft class. Embiid was drafted in 2014. Being 24 means no shit beacause he is already playing at an elite level on both ends and is clearly way better than Wiggins and Parker who are struggling to match their draft hype. For a guy who was projected to be as good as 'The Dream' Embiid is right on track.

There's a lot of tall dudes out there but this guy is legit skilled. And he's dominated at the highest level of basketball on the planet.
