我们在学校课堂上学习各个国家名字的时候，通常是与这些国家的人相联系的，比如："Where are you from?", "I am from Britain." 因此当我们在记忆各个国家的英语名称时，除非我们对这些国家的人或事情有兴趣或联系，我们会很快忘记那些与我们生活无关的国家的名字。其次，我们的记忆会受到中文翻译的误导，比如，我们常把英国说成“England” 而少有人能直接说“Britain”。

实际上，国家的名字，首先是地理概念，因此记住国家名字的最好方法是将国家作为地理概念来记住。而我们多数人在中学的世界地理课上都对世界各国的名字和地理位置或多或少有印象，只是没能将其与英语名称匹配起来，浪费了我们的知识。

建议：买一张英语的全球地图或是地球仪摆在家里。有空的时候或是听到读到相关国家的新闻时，就可以查看并念一下这个国家的名字。你甚至可以不时听一下本课的音频并同时寻找相关的国家。用不了多久，你就会自然记住世界上多数国家的名字。你甚至会发现，这个地图上有那么多的国家值得了解，值得去旅游，它们和中国一样承载着太多的人类历史。
