一、按结构分类-简单句、并列句、复合句、并列复合句

1、简单句-由一个分句构成

Everybody is wise after the event.

Anger,happiness,anxiety are emotions.

He is honest and faithful.

2、并列句-由两个或两个以上分句构成，并由并列连词、逗号或分号连接

Life is a horse,and either you ride it or it

rides you.

Hear no evil,see no evil,speak no evil.

3、复合句-由两个或两个以上分句构成，其中有一个分句作句子的一个成分

Happy is he who only desires what he may and does what he ought.

Health is not valued till sickness comes.

4、并列复合句-由三个或三个以上分句构成，并由并列连接词连接，其中有主从复合结构

He is truly rich who desires nothing,and

he is truly poor who coverts all.

二、按用途分类-陈述句、疑问句、祈使句、感叹句

1、陈述句-说明一个事实或陈述说话人的看法，句末用句号。

There is no royal road to learning knowledge.

2、疑问句-提出问题，句末用问号。

①一般疑问句

Do you mind waiting for an hour?

Is she badly hurt?Has there been an accident?

②特殊疑问句

How long does the flight take?

Why don't you be yourself?

③选择疑问句

Do you take tea or coffee?

④反意疑问句

You would never do anything to hurt me, would you?

Everyone's having a good time,aren't they?

3、祈使句-以原形动词开头，表示命令、要求、劝告等。

Open the door,please.

Do have a taste of this cake.

4、感叹句-表示惊讶、赞赏、喜悦等

How beautiful youth is!

What bright colours!
