长寓言故事简写（寓言故事-Thetroubleof）

<1>

A little mouse living on a farm was looking through a crack in the wall one day and saw the farmer and his wife opening a package.

一天，一只生活在农场里的老鼠透过墙上的缝隙，看到农夫和他的妻子正在打开一个包裹，

The mouse was intrigued by what food the package might contain.

“那里面装的是什么食物呢？”老鼠很好奇。

He was aghast to discover that is was a mousetrap.

随着包裹被打开，老鼠惊恐地发现，那里面竟是一个捕鼠器。

The mouse ran to the farmyard warning everyone:

老鼠立刻跑去院子里，对所有人发出警告：

“There is a mousetrap in the house, there is a mousetrap in the house.”

“屋里有捕鼠器！屋里有捕鼠器！”

The chicken raised his head and said,“Mr. Mouse, I can tell you this trap is a grave concern to you, but it has no consequence to me and I cannot be bothered with it.”

母鸡抬起头来说：“老鼠先生，我明白这关系到你的生死存亡，但对我来说，这一点儿也不重要，我不会受到任何影响。”

The mouse turned to the pig, but the pig said, “I am so sorry Mr. Mouse, but the trap is no concern of mine either!”

老鼠转而告诉小猪，小猪说：“对不起，老鼠先生，捕鼠器也不会对我造成任何影响。”

The mouse then turned to the bull, only to hear “It sounds like you have a problem Mr. Mouse, but not one that concerns me.”

老鼠又跑去告诉牛，听到的却是，捕鼠器对你来说的确是个问题，但是，这跟我无关呀！

The mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected that no one would help him or has concerned about his dilemma.

于是，老鼠回到屋里，垂头丧气，没有人可以帮助它，没有人关心它面临的困境。

He knew he had to face the trap on his own.

它知道它只能自己应对目前的境况。

That night the sound of a trap catching its prey was heard throughout the house.

那晚，捕鼠器抓到的猎物发出的叫声，满屋子都听得见，

The farmer’s wife rushed to see what was caught.

农夫的妻子跑去看看是什么东西被抓住了，

In the darkness she could not see that it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught.

The snake bit the farmer’s wife.

屋里黑黑的，看不清楚是什么东西。实际上是一条毒蛇的尾巴被夹在捕鼠器上，而毒蛇咬了农夫的妻子。

The wife caught a bad fever and the farmer knew the best way to treat a fever was with chicken soup.

妻子发烧了，农夫知道滋补高烧妻子的最好方式就是鸡汤了，

The farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard to get the soup’s main ingredient.

农夫带着斧头走向院子，把鸡杀了，作为鸡汤的主要食材。

The wife got sicker and friends and neighbors came by to take turns sitting with her round the clock.

但是，他妻子的病情不断恶化。亲戚朋友们纷纷前来，轮流陪伴床前照看，

The farmer knew he had to feed them, so he butchered the pig.

农夫为了招待他们，把小猪也给宰了。

The farmer’s wife did not get better, in fact she died and so many friends and family came to her funeral that the farmer had to slaughter the bull to feed all of them.

然而，妻子仍然未见好转，最后，她去世了。很多人前来参加她的葬礼，农夫又因此杀了牛，给客人们食用。

So the next time we hear that one of our teammates is facing a problem and think it does not concern or effect us, let us remember that when anyone of us is in trouble, we are all at risk.

所以，下次当我们听到队友面临困境，以为与我们无关时。应该记住：当我们其中一人受到威胁时，所有人都会面临危险。
