瞿秋白
九三五年六月十七日晚,梦行小径中,夕阳明灭,寒流幽咽,如置仙境.翌日,读唐人诗,忽见“夕阳明灭乱山中”句,因集得《偶成》一首。
夕阳明灭乱山中，
落叶寒泉听不穷。
已忍伶俜十年事，
心持半偈万缘空。
秋白绝笔，六月十八日
瞿秋白(1899—1935)，江苏省常州市人。曾任中共中央书记、共产国际执行委员和主席团委员。中央红军主力长征后，留在根据地坚持斗争。被俘，在福建长汀从容就义。遗著有《瞿秋白文集》四卷。
QU Qiubai(1899-1935), born in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. He was Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and an executive member of the Communist International and a member of its presidium. After the Long March by the main forces of the CPC Red Army, he stayed in the revolutionary base to keep fighting. He was captured and died a martyr fearlessly in Changting, Fujian Province.Anthology of Qu Qiubai’s Workswith 4 volumes is his posthumous work. (徐艺玮译)
An Impromptu

On the night of June 17, 1935, while walking on the path in my dream, I saw the setting sun shimmering and heard a cold stream gurgling sad as if in a fairyland. The next day, I came across the line “The setting sun shimmers amid rolling hills” while reading Tang poems, then I came up with this impromptu.
The hills rip the late sun’s flickering glow;
Leaves fall to the spring’s endless chilly flow.
I have been lonely now for ten years on;
A sutra half in heart mine, karma’s gone.
