被解雇的N种说法，到底有什么不同

There are many expressions in English that express being fired.

有很多英语说法 都可以用来表达解雇的意思

Of course when you're fired from a job,

当然了 当你被炒了鱿鱼

that's a terrible thing because you lost your job,

丢了工作 这是件非常糟糕的事

and as I said there are lots of expressions to express being fired.

我刚说了 有很多不同的英语说法可以表达解雇的意思

Let's take a look.

Now I'm gonna use the sentence he was...

我们从这个句子开始学起

of course, it could work for men he or women she, he was...she was...

当然了 这里只是用he举例 用she也是可以的

He was fired.

他被炒鱿鱼了

All right, that's the most common way to express being fired.

这是最常见的一种说法

He was fired, but there are some other ones.

但还有其他表达解雇的说法

And this is the first group.

这是第一组

There will be a second group later.

等会还会有第二组

Let's take a look.

我们一起来看下

He was laid off.

他被解雇了

Okay now, 'fired' is probably your fault, the employee fault,

用fired来表解雇的话 可能是你犯错了 也就是员工犯错

but if you're laid off, that's the company fault.

但如果是用laid off的话 通常就是公司出问题了

The company has some financial difficulties, so they have to layoff many workers.

公司遇到财政问题了 所以需要裁员

He was dismissed.

他被解雇了

This is kind of a polite way to say he's fired.

这种表达他人被解雇的一种较礼貌的说法

He was let go.

他被解雇了

Fired is a very terrible word, he was fired.

fired是一个让人感觉到非常不舒服的词

He was let go means the same thing,

let go同样也是表达解雇

but it's not as powerful,

但它没有fired那么强有力（毕竟解雇不是什么好事）

so it's a little...a little nicer to say he was let go.

所以用let go来表达会显得更加友好一点

He was released.

他被解雇了

Again, kind of a more polite way to say he was fired.

同样的 这也是一种表达被解雇相对委婉的说法

And last one, he was terminated.

最后一个 He was terminated

This is actually very strong, terminated, cut, he was terminated.

这个语气非常强烈 咔 他被辞退了

All right this is the first group.

好了 这是第一组

But there's more, let's move on.

Here's the second group of expressions, remember they all mean the same thing 'to be fired'.

All right, so there's lots of slang and idioms to look at.

The first one 'dumped', he was dumped.

第一个 He was dumped

Again, it just means fired.

同样的 意为解雇

He was sacked.

他被解雇了

He was canned.

他被解雇了

He was axed.

他被解雇了

Now an axe is like an axe to cut a tree, so he was axed, similar he was cut.

axe就是一把斧头 砍树的斧头 很形象的表达他被解雇了的意思

Now the last two idioms also very common.

最后两个俚语同样很常见

He was given the boot.

so he was kicked out of the company.

很形象的说明他被公司给"踢"出去了

And he was given the pink slip.

Now a long time ago when someone was fired from a company,

很久以前 有人被公司解雇时

they were given a form to say you're fired,

他们会收到一张表格 上面写着"你被解雇了"

and the color of this form was usually pink.

然后表格的颜色通常是粉色的

So this expression 'given the pink slip' that means he's fired.

These days they don't use that form anymore,

but they still use the expression or the idiom here to mean that person is fired.
