其次，图书馆有必要存在的原因还有两个。

一是图书馆的用户群体不仅仅是学生，还包括当地社区其他普通居民，老人可能会在图书馆读书看报消磨时间，父母可能会带着孩子在图书馆一起阅读增进感情。

二是图书馆本身还有学习和文化场所功能，这是网络所做不到的。相较于网上各种无关信息可能会使学生分心，图书馆安静的氛围更能让学生集中精力学习。同时，许多图书馆会举办各种文化展览供人参观，宣传相应的文化理念，丰富当地居民的休闲娱乐生活。

With the development of advanced technology, there has been a tremendous transformation in the area of knowledge acquisition from the library to online. As a result, people start debating regarding the necessity of a library because the majority of information is accessible online. I strongly disagree with the statement of abandoning libraries and believe they should remain in modern society.

It is undeniable that the internet can make the information searching process more efficient, enabling us to get a large amount of relevant information in a fairly short amount of time. By contrast, searching in a library is more time-consuming, as people not only need to spend time travelling to the library but also need to go through books and search catalogues to finally get the information they want. However, the authenticity of information on the Internet is not always guaranteed and many contents may be published by netizens without strict verification of their accuracy. For instance, Wikipedia, a first-to-go website for accessing knowledge, welcomes the public to edit information and the reference for the added information is not a must.

On the contrary, the library not only promised the authenticity of the data, but its irreplaceability is also reflected in its unique offline cultural functions compared to online resources. Firstly, it provides students with a comfortable learning environment. The quiet atmosphere of the library allows students to concentrate on their studies better than the much irrelevant information on the internet which can easily distract them. Secondly, it opens to the public as a cultural venue, holding activities and exhibitions which construct the spiritual civilization of the public. For instance, certain libraries launch art exhibitions to cultivate the artistry of the public, and some hold female exhibitions to tell stories of women’s power.

In the nutshell, we can accumulate the fact that libraries are still very essential even in modern life and cannot be replaced by online websites.
