英语知识辨析（英语常用词辨析）

一：adversary enemy foe

adversary只是指”对手“，而不是”仇敌“，比如比赛中的对方或者诉讼中的对方；enmey是指感情上或者政治上对立的”敌人“或者是军事上的”敌军“；foe与enemy相似，但比较古旧和正式。

二：advice advisable advised

①advice

1）名词是advice，动词是advise

2）这是个不可数名词，不能说an advice,可以说a piece of advice

3)advice 是一般的、非专业的、不正是的建议和劝告；recommendation是经过集体调查研究后提出的建议；counseling则是专家就个人问题提供的专业咨询。

②advisable

1)指某个做法，例如;because of the popularity of the region, it is advisable to book hotels or camp sites in advance.由于该地区非常受欢迎，所以最好预先定下旅馆或营地。

2）指人，后面接上动词不定式，表示：可以得到劝告去做某事，例如：Children who are below the age of 18 years old are not advisable to use the drug.

3)指具体或抽象事物，后面的动词不定式用及物动词，该事物是逻辑宾语，例如：These foods are not advisable to eat.这些食品不宜食用。如果是不及物动词或者是及物动词而另有宾语，则这个不定式表示”有助于达到某目的“，例如：These shoes are advisable to protect against sharp objects cuts, scrapes, bruises on the rocky river bottom.这些鞋可用于防止在岩石河底被尖物刺破、刮破或刺伤。

③advised

1)be advised that.....是商业信件的惯用语，没有任何实质意义，例如：Be advised that nothing of the sort is contemplated.确无此等意图，赏希鉴察。也可用于一般的告示上。例如：Please be advised that the parking lot will be closed tomorrow.请注意，停车场明日将关闭。2)well-advsied, better-advsied, ill-advised常用来评判做某事是否明智。例如：Tom would have been well-advised to tear himself away from the enterprise before he lost any more money.汤姆本来明智的做法，应该是趁自己还没有损失更多的钱之前从这个企业脱身。
