作文中的benefit错误用法举例

大家写作文时经常会用到英语单词benefit，表达“对......有益”这样一个概念，这个单词使用广泛，可以应用到各类话题中，比如教育对国家的发展有利，使用清洁能源对保护环境有利，动态清零的政策有益于保护人民群众的健康等等。但是，benefit的用法非常复杂，词性多变，使用十分灵活，导致很多同学在作文中都出现过错误，请看下面的句子：

•This habit will benefit to our whole life.

•It's not only benefits yourself, but also...

•Saving is such a good habit that benefits to ourselves.

在修改以上病句以前，我们先讲解一下benefit的主要用法。

benefit的用法

•1.用作名词。

意思是：利益；好处

an advantage that sth gives you; a helpful and useful effect that sth has

It is said that Yogo is of great benefit to human health.

据说瑜伽对人体健康有极大的好处。

I did it for his benefit.

我做这个是为了帮助他。

We developed trade with them for mutual benefit.

我们以互利为目的与他们发展贸易。

作名词时，同义替换词有advantage和profit，常用的一些词组搭配有：

maximum benefit（最佳效果）

potential benefit（潜在利益）

added benefit（额外好处）

Eg. Out-of-town shopping centers have the added benefit of free parking.

城外的购物中心有一个额外的好处，可以提供免费停车。

2.用作不及物动词。（常与from连用）获益；得益于

The plants benefited from the rain.植物得益于这场雨。

We benefit from daily exercises.我们得益于每天做操。

Both sides have benefited from the talks.

双方都从谈判中获益。

3.用作及物动词，benefit sb (sth) 对某人或某物有益，使某人或某物受益

We should spend the money on something that will benefit everyone.

我们应该把这笔钱花在大家都能得益的事上。

动词用法小结：

benefit作动词主要有两种用法：

A benefits from B 指”A受益于B，A得益于B“，例如，2020年考研英语二的知识运用部分出现的有关于benefit 的这种用法：

Children of every age benefit from patient parenting.

每个年龄段的孩子们都从耐心的养育中受益。【2020·英语二·知识运用】

A benefits B表示”A对B有好处“，2018年考研英语阅读理解中反复出现了benefit的这种用法：

beneficial的用法

对......什么有益，如果使用形容词beneficial的话，后面的介词用for还是to?

be beneficial for

International trade is beneficial for all participants.

国际贸易对所有参加国都有好处。

This favorable situation is extremely beneficial for China's development and it will provide many opportunities.

这种良好的态势对中国的发展十分有利，使其面临很多发展机遇。

Happiness is beneficial for the body, but it is grief that develops the powers of the mind.

愉快有益于人的身体，但只有悲伤才能培养心灵力量。

Card indexes in a library are beneficial to readers.

对于读者来说图书馆的卡片索引是有益的。

Sunshine and moisture are beneficial to living things.

小结：从以上例子，大家可以看出，be beneficial for 和be beneficial to 都是可以的, 作为形容词，beneficial的常用同义替换词为helpful, positive 和valuable。
