1.Cats never fail to fascinate human beings.
1) fascinate v.迷住,吸引
fascinating adj. 迷人的,有吸引力的
fascination n.魅力,吸引力
have / hold a fascination for…
对……有吸引力
例:The boy was fascinated by the toys in the shop window.
Stamp collection has/ holds a certain fascination for me.
2. They can be friendly and affectionate towards humans
1)affectionate(showing fondness for sb,,loving) adj. 示爱的;爱的
affection n.喜爱,爱
be affectionate towards…
对……充满爱
例: He is an affectionate child.
He felt great affection towards her.
He is very affectionate towards his son.
3.But they lead mysterious lives of their own as well.
1) lead a life
过着一种……的生活
例: Finally, he decided to lead a new life.
2) mysterious adj. 神秘的
mystery n.神秘的事物;秘密
例:She gave me a mysterious look.
It is a mystery to me why they didn’t choose him.
Aren’t you interested in the mysteries of life?
4. Thev never become submissive like dogs and horses.
1) submissive adj.服从的, 顺从的
be submissive to sb.
顺从某人,接受某人的控制
例: She is submissive to her husband.
Everyone thinks he is a submissive servant.
2) like与as都可表示像……一样,但搭配不一样:like 名词 /代词 ,而 as 句子。
例:
Like me, she enjoys reading.
She enjoys reading as I do.
