You hopped, skipped and bounded from one end to the other across colored hoops arrayed in groups of one and two on the floor. When there was one hoop ahead, you landed in it on one foot, with the other foot raised, and when there were two hoops ahead, you landed in them on two feet, with each foot in one hoop. You had learned the hopscotch-like game from mummy who played it as a kid, except that she and her peers didn't have material hoops but could only negotiate the circles chalked on cement or marked on dirt with twigs.

你在地上把彩色圈环按一个一组两个一组的方式摆起来，从一头跳到另一头。跳进一个环时单脚站立，跳进两个环时双脚分别站在一个环里。这个很像是跳房子的游戏你是跟妈妈学的。妈妈小时候跟小伙伴们这么玩儿，只是她当时不是用的环，而是用粉笔在水泥地上或用小棍儿在土地上画出圆圈儿。
