这个绘本故事有点长，所以我分了part1和part2来分享，今天我们先来听听第一部分哦

Once upon a time, there was a giraffe named Ginger.

从前呀，有一个长颈鹿叫金杰。

Ginger lived in Kenya, a country in Africa. Like all giraffes, Ginger had a long neck and long legs.

鹿鹿金杰生活在肯尼亚，一个非洲的国家。和所有的长颈鹿一样，金杰有着长长的脖子和长长的腿。

Because she was so tall, she was able to eat food from the very tops of the trees in the savannah.

因为她很高，所以她有能力去吃萨凡纳草原上，长在树上很高的食物。

The savannah in Africa is an area with lots of grass and some trees.

非洲的萨凡纳是一个有着很多草和树的区域。

Sometimes, a savannah is called grasslands.

有时候，萨凡纳被称为大草原

The other animals like zebras and antelopes could not reach where Ginger could reach.

其他一些动物像斑马和羚羊够不着金杰所能到达的地方

But Ginger always found food. She loved the leaves and the new buds of the trees.

但金杰总是找到食物，她爱吃叶子和树上的新芽。

· Ginger 有话说：

· 小朋友们先来学一下我们在这一段中学到的动物单词吧

· Giraffe 长颈鹿

· Zebra 斑马

· Antelope 羚羊

· Elephant 大象（下文有出现）

One day, Ginger was busy eating her favorite leaves along with some other giraffes.

一天，金杰和其他长颈鹿忙着吃她最喜欢的叶子。

It was a bright sunny day and there was not a cloud in the sky.

这是一个晴朗的一天，天空没有白云

It had not rained for a long time, so the grass was very dry.

已经很久没有下雨了，所以草地非常干燥

She heard a noise down at the bottom of her extra long legs: it was her friend, Mickey

the Monkey.

她听到了一个噪音从她的大长腿底部发出来：那是她的朋友，猴子米奇

Mickey was trying to say something, but Ginger couldn't understand what he was saying.

米奇尝试想要说些什么，但金杰根本听不明白他在说什么

He looked very tired. "What's wrong?" asked Ginger.

他看上去非常累，"发生什么事了？"金杰问。

Ginger was a very kind giraffe and wanted to help everyone. Just then Mickey fell over!

金杰是一个很友好的长颈鹿，她想要帮助每个人，就在那时，金杰摔倒了。

· Ginger 有话说：

· 非洲国家气候非常干燥，生活在那里的动物因为长年不下雨，连基本的生活都保障不了。

· Africa has a very dry weather, because it's been a long time without rain, it's difficult for them to survive.

Ginger was also a smart giraffe. She knew what was wrong.

金杰同是也是一个很聪明的长颈鹿，她知道发生了什么

Mickey couldn't find anything to eat and he was very hungry.

米奇不能找到任何吃的东西，他非常的饿

Ginger nibbled some fresh, tender leaves and buds from the top of the tree where she was eating.

金杰从她吃东西的地方，也就是树的顶部咬下一下新鲜，柔软的叶子和新芽

She dropped some of the leaves and buds to the ground near where Mickey was.

她把一些叶子和新芽扔到靠近米奇的地面

Then she nudged him a little with the hoof at the bottom of one of her very long legs. "Wake up, Mickey!" said Ginger.

然后她轻轻地推了一下在她腿底部的米奇的蹄，说"醒一醒，米奇"

"I've found something for you to eat."

"我给你找了一些吃的"

Slowly Mickey sat up and ate a little.

慢慢地米奇坐了起来然后吃了一点食物

· Ginger 有话说：

· 一些动物非常友好和聪明，它们能观察出朋友的需求，并且尽己所能去帮助需要帮助的朋友。

· Some animals are very kind and smart, they can find out what's happening then help their friends.

After a while, when Mickey was feeling better, Ginger asked him, "What's happened, Mickey? Why are you so hungry?

Why can't you find anything to eat?"

过了一会儿，等米奇感觉好一些了，金杰问他"发生什么事啦？为什么你会这么饿？为什么你找不到任何吃的东西"

Mickey said, "It hasn't rained for so long and now there's no more food."

米奇说"太久没有下雨了，现在已经没有食物了"

"That's not good," said Ginger. "What's happening with the other animals?"

"那可不妙啊"金杰说，那其他动物呢？

"No one knows what to do," answered Mickey.

"没有人知道该怎么办"米奇回答

"All the zebras and the antelopes and the elephants are getting worried about the dry grass.

Some of them are thinking about leaving the savannah and trying to reach the jungle."

"所有的斑马，羚羊和大象们都很担心干燥的草原 ，其中的一些动物在想着要离开萨瓦纳然后尝试到雨林去呢！"

"That's a long trip," said Ginger.

"Are you going to go with them?"

"那是一个很长的旅程""你要和他们一起去吗？"金杰说

· Ginger 有话说：

· 雨林比干旱地区湿润，生活在干旱地区的动物为了获得食物，为了生存下去，他们会想方设法到更加湿润的地方去。

· Jungle is more wet then the dry area, the animals which lives in dry area, they have to go to some moist climate to survive by all means.

"I don't know," answered Mickey. "What do you think we should do?"

"我不知道"米奇回答"你觉得我们应该怎么办呢？"

Ginger thought for awhile and then suddenly, she had a good idea.

金杰想了一会，突然，她想到了一个好办法

"We should go talk to Leo the Lion.

"我们应该去找狮子利奥"

He is the smartest animal in the savannah!"

他是萨凡纳草原最聪明的动物了！

Mickey was too tired to walk, so Ginger invited him to ride on her back.

米奇太累了，以至于走不动了，所以金杰邀请他骑上她的背部

"Hold on tight to my neck," said Ginger.

"抓住我的脖子哦"，金杰说

"There's a lot to hold on to," joked Mickey.

"那可有太多地方可以抓住了"米奇玩笑道

Ginger laughed. "You're right. I've got the longest neck in Africa!"

金杰被米奇逗笑了，说"说得太对了！我有着非洲最长的脖子！"

So they started their journey across to the other side of the savannah to look for Leo.

所以她们开启了穿越到萨凡纳另一边的旅程，去寻找利奥。

· Ginger有话说

· Sometimes, you can ask the wisdom people for help if you don't know what to deal with the situation. but , you should think by yourself first.

· 有时候，你碰到实在解决不了的问题，你可以寻求更智慧的朋友帮忙，但前提是你得先自己独立思考过哦。

Ginger and Mickey were in luck! Leo was sitting up on a rock and he was really easy to see as they walked through the grass.

金杰和米奇很幸运！利奥就坐在一个石头上，利奥很容易看见他们穿走在草地上

"Hi, Leo!" they both shouted.

"嗨，利奥！"他们两个喊道

Leo had been napping and was a little grumpy when they woke him up.

利奥正在午睡，然后对他们突然叫醒他有点不满

But he was polite and said, "Hello Ginger and Mickey.

但是他很有礼貌地说"你好金杰，嗨米奇"

Why did you walk the whole way across the savannah? Just to wake me up?"

你们为什么要穿越整个萨凡纳呀？就是为了把我叫醒吗？

But he was joking; he had a smile on his face.

但是他是开玩笑的，他的脸上挂着笑容呢

"Mickey says that there is no food left on the savannah because it's been so dry," said Ginger. "Do you have any ideas?"

米奇说"因为萨凡纳太干了，都没有吃的食物了！你有什么主意吗？"

· Leo 有话说：

· 小朋友们，有时候，如果你的朋友打扰你休息了，但是不是故意的，因为有急事找你帮忙，我们可以礼貌回应。

· Young kids, sometimes, your friends might disturb you during your resting time by no means, you can response politely, because they need your help.

Leo thought for a while. He said, "There's nothing we can do about the rain.

利奥想了一会儿，他说，关于不下雨，我们什么也做不了。

It will come soon, but we can't be sure when it

will arrive.

雨很快就会来了，但是我们不能确定它什么时候才会到达

When the rain comes, all the plants will grow again and there will be lots of food for everybody."

当雨来临的时候，所有的植物都会重新生长，到那个时候，就会有很多食物提供给大家了。

He thought a little longer. "The only thing I can think of is for everyone to move closer to the forest," he continued.

利奥再次思索起来，他继续说"我能想到唯一的办法就是大家搬去离森林很近的地方"

"There will be more things to eat there, but I know it's a long trip and it will not be very easy.

"那里有更多的东西可以吃，但我知道那是一个很长的旅程，不会那么简单的。"

It might take days to get there."

可能要花费好些天才能到达那里。

· Leo 有话说：

· In some natural rules, we can do nothing.

· 在某些自然规律下，我们什么也改变不了。唯有遵循自然法则。
