两个短语都可以表示做家务， 但是有所区别：

• do the housework: 更具体，指的是做日常的一些家务， 有自己做家务的顺序， 先洗碗，后拖地，然后...最后...
• do housework: 更随意， 不一定按平时做家务的顺序来，一般没有do the housework事情多。

比如，

My mom is doing the housework. 我妈妈在做家务。（一件一件地在做）
