动词的ed和ing作定语的区别（ed做定语和现在分词）

先看一个句子：

There are plenty of celebrations ____throughout the country.（held /holding）全国到处都有很多庆祝活动。

这是昨天发文英语范文背诵：关于National Day 的作文中引起争议的一句话。

到底是用held还是用holding?两者用法有什么区别？

1.现在分词作定语表示主动和进行，并且名词与现在分词之间存有逻辑上的主谓关系。

The child standing over there is my brother.站在那儿的男孩子是我弟弟。

=The child who is standing over there is my brother.

standing over there相当于省略了主语的定语从句who is standing over there。 The child和stand是逻辑上的主谓关系。

The room facing south is our classroom.朝南的房间是我们的教室。

2.过去分词作定语表示被动和完成。并且被修饰语是过去分词逻辑上的宾语。

The fish caught yesterday is still alive.昨天捉来的鱼还活着。

（捉鱼 catch fish，鱼只能是被捉。所以用过去分词caught表示被动。）

There are plenty of celebrations ____throughout the country.（held /holding）全国到处都有很多庆祝活动。

举办活动是 hold celebrations。所以这里应该用过去分词held表示被动。
