1.虚拟语气在非真实条件句中的用法

与过去事实相反的虚拟语气

If he had taken my advice, he should have succeeded in the competition.

If my watch hadn’t stopped, I should have been on time.

If only I had learned driving before.

与现在事实相反的虚拟语气

If I saw her now, I would be happy.

If he had the chance, he would study harder.

If I were you, I would help him.

与将来事实相反的虚拟语气

If it should be sunny tomorrow, we would go hiking.

If it were to rain tomorrow, the football match would be put off.

If it rained tomorrow, what should we do?

2. 虚拟语气在宾语从句中

在suggest, insist, demand, require, request, propose, ask, advise, order, recommend 等词引导的宾语从句中要用虚拟语气。

—— S ( should) do ( 动）

—— S ( should) be done (被动）

虚拟语气在宾语从句中的举例:

He suggested that the meeting (should) be put off till next weekend.

The teacher demanded that the classroom be cleaned at once.

I asked he not spend too much time watching TV, for he will sit for an exam.

3.Wish后引导的虚拟语气。

现在 —— did

将来 —— would/could/might do

过去 —— had done

I wish I knew the answer. （现在）

I wish I would see him tomorrow. （将来）

I wish I had been there. （过去）

4.Would rather 句式

would rather do （真实）（非虚拟语气）

would rather sb. did （将来，现在）

would rather had done （过去）

I would rather go to work.

I would rather they went with me. （现在）

I would rather I had seen the film. （过去）

5.含蓄虚拟语气

without, but for, or, otherwise, etc. 代替if 条件句。

Without your timely help, we wouldn’t have finished the project on time.

But for your timely warning, we would have got into great trouble.

Without water, there would be no living things.

But for your help, we couldn’t have succeeded.

6. 混合（错综）虚拟语气

If he had set out earlier, he would be home now.

If I were not busy, I would have come.

7. 表语从句，同位语从句，—— S should do…

常见的词有：insistance, suggestion, order, proposal, demand ect.

Their suggestion is that they should go to attend the meeting.

They received an order that they should start off at once.

主语从句——It’s necessary (natural, important, strange, a pity, no wonder) that sb. should do …

It is a pity that he should be absent today.

It is important that we should speak politely.

8.状语从句中的虚拟语气。

In case, less, for fear that, (以防，以免) sb. should do.

He took his umbrella with him in case it should rain.

He left quickly for fear that he should wake the baby.

as if (though), so that, in order that, etc,

They talked as if they had been good friends for years.

His face looked pale as if he had been ill.
