名词性从句that与what的区别（不会区分名词性从句中的that）

到底怎样区分英语名词性从句中的 that 和 what 的确让不少同学抓耳挠腮，不知所措。其实要想学会它们的用法也不难。笔者凭多年教学经验告诉大家，掌握二者的区别主要应从它们的语法作用和表义功能来着手。现举例简要说明如下：

1. that 是从属连词 ，只有语法作用 ，用以引导主语从句，宾语从句 ，表语从句 和 同位语从句。没有表义功能，在从句中没有实际意义，只引导不充当任何句子成分。例如：

That he will come to Minquan is certain.

He found that he was lost in the forest.

We heard the news that he failed in the exam.

2. what 是连接代词 ，不仅具有语法作用，用以引导主语从句 ，宾语从句，表语从句 和介词的宾语从句 ，而且具有代词作用 ，有一定含义 ，可以充当句子的某个成分。例如：

What sugar is made up of is known to us.

I can not remember what he said.

The problem is what we should do next.

3. 当 it 用作形式主语和 形式宾语时，必须用that 来引导主语从句和宾语从句。例如：

It is well-known that the teacher always asks his students to answer questions in class.

They want to make it clear that they do an important and necessary job.

4. 在口语中，引导宾语从句和同位语从句的that 可以省略，而 what 在其引导的各种从句中，都不可以省略。

They said the clothes made of this magic cloth would be invisible.
