表述的很直白：xx beat xx to 晋级/挺进季后赛第二轮。

也有复杂一点的表达：

The Mavericks beat the Jazz 98-96 on Thursday night in Game 6 to wrap up the first-round series.

• wrap up 圆满完成，圆满结束(工作、协议等)（If you wrap up something such as a job or an agreement, you complete it in a satisfactory way.）

例：

NATO defense ministers wrap up their meeting in Brussels today...

同样用了advance，只不过后面没有用“to second round”，而是改用“促进；加速…的进程”的意思：sth. advances xx队 past xx队。

如果球队做主语，advance 后面也可以直接加past，比如凯尔特人和篮网的赛前，媒体发问：

Can the Boston Celtics advance past the Brooklyn Nets to make it to the second round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs?

你看，英文的“横扫”也用的是sweep，因为除了“打扫、清扫”的意思外，sweep在体育运动中也表示“大获全胜/屡战屡胜”：
