store time是什么意思（Buytime可不是）

说到时间，经常会想到Time flies（时光如梭）啊！那就来扩充一下关于time的表达。

比如说第一个，“Buy time”可不是“买时间”，那是啥意思呢？

Buy time means to stall or delay to get some time to do something.

也就是说先拖延搁置（stall），特意想要给自己争取点时间做别的事情。

英语例句：

① SOOO sorry! I'm running late, but I'm almost there now—buy me some time so that I don't miss the cake-cutting!

太抱歉了！我要迟到了，但我快到了——给我争取点时间，免得我错过切蛋糕！

② Maybe we can buy some time by asking the teacher more questions.

也许，我们可以通过问老师更多的问题来赢得一些时间。

Better late than never是“迟到会更好”吗？怎么理解这句话？

It means you'd better do itsince it is better than never do it.

也就是说，迟做总比不做好，晚来总比不来好，你开始得晚，总好过你从不开始。

英语例句：

① I finally bought a house at 66, but better late than never.

66岁时我才终于买了一个房子，但迟做总比不做好。

② I'm sorry I missed your birthday and my gift came late, but better late than never, right?

很抱歉我错过了你的生日，礼物也来晚了，但迟到总比不到好，对吧?

小伙伴可以自己试着编一个小故事，把新学的词组全部串进去，越夸张越好，这样的记忆效果更好哦！

- Amanda's birthday was three weeks ago. Should I send her a gift now?

- Better late than never.

- OK, but the meeting is in one hour. Can youbuy me some time, I’ll take French leave and go buy a gift.

- 阿曼达的生日是三周前。我现在还要送她礼物吗？

- 迟做总比不做好。

- 好吧，但是会议一小时后就开始了，你能帮我争取些时间吗？我要翘班去买礼物。

如果想记得更清楚，不妨把时间改得更夸张，比如会议还有1分钟，甚至1秒钟就开始。我也要跑出去买个礼物，这样你的记忆就更深。
